MTM,
About the Kaufman trailer, since it is a 2005 I suspect you will need to change all of the boards. MY Big Tex is a 2005 trailer and I recently removed and replaced the boards on mine. Price the lumber cost for full length boards. The new screws are about $40 too. For the lighting I would replace the lights and wiring with a new led kit ($80).

Pintle hitch, nothing wrong with it but all my trailers of any size use the 2 5/16 ball including a weight distributing hitch which may be required to meet the tow rating requirement on your truck.

Look at the tires closely to see what condition they are in and does it come with a spare and mounting?

I'm going to go check it out in the next couple days. Figure no more than a couple hundred for everything and it should be good. I will ask about the spare while I'm there.

Ok. I won't go for the combo then. Problem is I looked at tsc (online) where I usually can find stuff like that but they only have the combo so I'll either have to go hunting or get one from online. Would you get one where you can adjust with the bolts or just the standard one that just comes straight out of the receiver?

Thanks!

I'd get the one that can be adjusted. Leaves more options in case you have a different truck you want or need to use in the future and you run out of adjustments on the trailer. My wife ordered me a box-load of stuff for Christmas from etrailer. Shipping was pretty quick. She says she ordered it last Monday and it was here on Thursday. I'm sprucing up my 20+5 gooseneck. She found my list and ordered the first three items on it.

I will be going to look at the trailer tomorrow as well as the box blade. I'll be reporting back.

I was thinking though how much more would it be for me to get a new trailer? 14k lb, 16' w/2' beaver tail or similar?

So I went back. I didn't see the trailer I was talking about but I looked at some of the others and for the price it doesn't seem worth it. I picked up a equipment trader magazine and found a trailer dealer a little north but from the few prices they had they looked really good. Like $3500 for a 16' 12k lb. Still a lot to think about.

This guy looking to buy some of my things still hasn't gotten back to me so I will have to see where this goes. Hopefully he can take it so I can get this thing and stop bugging you guys about everything!

I thought I'd update

This guy hasn't called me back about buying some of my things so things are a bit on hold right now. If he does, I will be getting something ASAP, if not a may be a little while. We are doing some reno on the cabin and with us just purchasing the land money is a little tight, but this would put us on the right track.

I have still been looking and I found what seems to be an even better deal than the previous I was looking at. 2004 as well but really has every single option. Here's the link, tell me what you think. I really hope I can get this thing.

The Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of my Ford 550 is 17,950 lbs. If I have a trailer attached that has a GVWR of 10,000 lbs, weather it actually weighs that or not I am over the 26,000 lbs of a Class-C lic. so I must have a Class-B lic.

That doesn't need a class B. Class C would do.

Class C is not limited to 26k unless the trailer is over 10k.

Really need a 12k trailer for a 110 imo. Since the 110 configuration with backhoe is 7600 lbs this only leaves 2400 lbs for the trailer, spare tire and chains. About the lightest trailer (steel) I have run across is 2500 lbs you are maxed out before you add anything.

For those using an F550 I would recommend a 14k trailer with 20ft length, this will allow you to bring along ectras you may need. I sometimes need to bring a boxblade (1250 lbs) or pallet forks (450 lbs) and often the rock bucket don't know its weight. At any rate I prefer to have some reserve capacity that is why I use an F550 with a 12k trailer and would go with the 14k trailer if I were to do it again.

I'm looking for a 14k, 18' and I think that will suit it.

Looking like February may be a good month as well, we'll see. A couple I got my eye on and if all goes as planned it shouldn't be long and I'll be in the 110 club:thumbsup:
