John Deere 110 vs Kubota M59

Curly Dave,
Thanks, my brain isn't functioning I guess, couldn't remember the color of the slide mechanism release. On mine as long as the seat is in the rearmost position it will flip back and forth no problem.

MTM,
The directions to operate the hydraulic remotes assumes you have the optional tripple diverter. With the diverter in the front position the joystick controls the fel raise, bucket curl and the rocker switch controls the fel aux hysraulic couplers. Momentarily pressing the diverter button changes to rear outlet control of the three sets of couplers. I should add that by default the diverter valve will revert to front control if you turn off the aux hydraulics or turn off the key. You need to turn on the aux hydraulics each time the ignition switch is cycled to use the rear remotes. So in most cases when using the backhoe and fel arrangement the default arrangement means the fel joystick operates normally.

I use my trailers for a multitude of tasks so I prefer to have removeable side ramps that sliide in pockets to store. If all you do is haul the backhoe around the pinned on ramps and a short dovetail is more convenient.

I switch out all of my trailers to sealed led lighting and treated lumber on the floor boards. I also would add drop down stabilizers on the rear corners to prevent stressing the front hitch when loading and unloading the backhoe.

That sounds better than what I'd thought in terms of ease of operation. I was assuming either a bunch of levers or you use the toggle on the loader control for all of them.

I heard that the grate like pinned ramps that stretch all the way across really hurt gas milage but how do the two stand up ones compare to the underneath storage in terms of mileage?

I wouldn't concern myself with the aerodynamics of a backhoe and trailer as related to fuel mileage. More of a concern would be blocking the exhaust outlet to prevent the turbo from spinning without oil on a long trip.

My concern isn't with it loaded but more without anything on it. I have a lot of empty trailering miles and one guy told me he gets nearly 4-5MPG less with his because of the grate being like a brick wall, I was just wondering if the two connected ramps were any different.

The exhaust was going to be my next question, do you just put some duct tape over it?

Just went through the eBay pages again and saw this one. Could be good if I could get a deal but it's a 2002 and a rental. How would you say it compares?

Well... if you didn't want to go all the way to Montana?!? Washington... Next is Canada...

Looks like it's got everything except the rear SCV's. And the 3pt hardware.

4n1 looks used but not abused. It's been steam cleaned, recently. So, you can't really tell much from the pics if the cylinders are leaky, etc.

TnT is very nice. But you can still work all the 3pt implements without it.

Airport Rental has a 110 for sale up here! It's got everything except the mounted thumb and the belly pan and the 3pt TnT hardware. All the hydraulics. :D

:laughing: Maybe I should come all the way up to your neck of the woods!

I was just looking at this more for comparison, really wouldn't want a rental unless it was a really good deal. I've found that people don't care about rental machines and wouldn't really want one.

I just thought of something else:

With the TnT being controlled by the loader stick could you set it up to "float" the tilt as you do on the fel?

Yes, push the joystick forward and the top link will float.

About the fuel mileage I doubt the fold up ramps will make enough difference to detect. The idea that the ramp or ramps will make 4-5 mpg difference is BS.

About the exhaust, I block my 4520 when moving at highway speeds with a piece of foam rubber shoved in the outlet. Nothing to worry about with the 110 as it is non turbo (naturally aspirated). I was just pointing out that other things had more significance than the aerodynamics issue.

My 5000'th post:thumbsup:
