Best and worst part of your job

I'm a Facility Manager and I have had a lot of job's over the years and for the last 9 this job on the worst day's for me doesn't seem like work. I think the variety of the job keeps it from getting mundane. Another good part of this job is it is flexible which also means I work all hours of the day. But like I said it doesn't seem like work if you love the job. Also having great employee's makes a world of difference.

Worst part: The hours. I have too little time off to do things that I want/need to do. Mainly because the company has only 2 of us doing what there should be at least 3 doing. And, of course, the pay could be better.

Best part: (Also the worst) I work inside. During those 110 degree/100% humidity days I'm sitting in the A/C. But I'm still inside during those perfect days too.

Is it permitted to go back ten years to the career you had before retirement, and base your replies on that?

Before retiring back in late 2002, I was the lead carpenter for Facilities Management for a huge state agency...agree with you, the work is so varied you never get bored, might be BS on Monday and BS on Tuesday but it is usually DIFFERENT BS. My job was really varied and interesting much of the time, it was like working for yourself with the benefits of working for someone else. The downside: Having to work outdoors in poor weather, travel away from home for long periods of time.

The good:
I like what I do for living. I commission control and protection systems for steam turbines and compressors.
349 days to go before I plan on quiting.
The bad:
Air travel used to be fun. Now it is barely tolerable.
Working many days out of home.
Unpredictable life. I go to do one week job and return home tree months later.

The good ... I live the American dream. Self Employed making a good living doing as I want.

The bad ... No said payday. I never been able to say ... "I get my check Friday"

Thought I'd start a new thread about what is the best aspect (besides money) and the worst aspect of your job. I own a nursery and landscaping business so one of the perks besides working for myself is being outside a lot. One of the worst parts is being outside a lot...when it's 95+ degrees and humid and/or when it's butt cold and wet.
When it's cold -27 Celsius in Apsley this morning, but it's a dry cold, lol. Anyway I here you, I worked in construction as a tin knocker for years and there are times when it is pleasant and times when it is not, lol. Today the worst part of doing stuff is my decline in vision and movable body parts, lol. Time moves on.:laughing:The good is I still can do stuff, lol, retired.

Same here, as far as outside work which I do.

Also 1 good thing Working for yourself, 1 bad thing, working for yourself, which amounts to I get fired and hired allot:laughing:

I love what I do-Information Technology. It's very challenging-decent pay, most days it's sometthing different.

Worst part is some weeks I'm putting in 7 hours or more and I'm salary.
