I was recently told it noticeably increases plant vigor. Said summer squash so treated had greater yields and looked healthier than those not treated.

Any first hand experiances with this?

How much aspirin per gallon of water?

Thanks!

I am not aware that there exists positive proof that it helps, but my Mother always used to put an aspirin in the water for the Christmas Tree.

 I would try it :) 1 or 2 pills per Gallon is not going to hurt your plants.

Maybe plants do get aheadache :D

Never used it in the water for growing plants, but I always heard that cut flowers in water would last longer if you put an aspirin in the water. But as rgs03833 said, I don't think it could hurt the plants.

Ditto here, what I've always heard and seen done

Never heard of that... I don't take any asprin myself - Keep clear of the stuff, even if I have a head ache (my philosophy is not to take anything unless I need to) so I've never had the chance to try it.

Don't know about aspirins but do every 6 months put small amount of used coffee grains on non-acidic plants mixed in w/dirt.

You know what, I think I have heard that somewhere at some time!

I'll have to try that in the future, as fresh flowers always die quickly with me.

Living flowers and plants last a long time though, as I'm pretty green fingered luckily.

Try a search using Google with the term "aspirin in plant water?".
