Local Kubota dealer not honoring warranty

I wouldn't mention the dealerships name but it might not hurt to mention what town it is in.

Why would you not give the dealerships name?

Two sides to every story?
Exactly. That way the accused can be called and asked if it's true or what's their side.
Get me the name and I'll call.

I say post the dealers name. We praise and pass around a good dealers name so why shouldn't we be made aware of a possible bad dealer. Up my way I went in to price out a BX2750D front snow blower and before anything the dealer I was at asked if I bought my BX24 from him. Once he found out I didn't the attitude all changed. Of course that dealer has since gone under but has since reopened in a new location and the parts guy has been alot more helpfull since. So what cmes around does go around

I agree with all of those who said to report the dealer.

Regardless of where the tractor is bought, or for what reasons (internet shopper or not) a licensed kubota dealer cannot just deny warrenty work because the tractor was not purchased at his dealer.

They can be a PITA to work with in this situation. Like moving valued customers ahead of you, and taking their time, but they cannot just deny the warrenty. Call the reigonal rep and definatally keep us posted on the outcome.

And it seems pretty clear that the problem with the tractor wasnt the cause for denial, since you havent even told him what was wrong yet. But out of curiosity, what symptoms/problems are you having that you suspect the voltage regulator?

And how did the conversation with the dealer go??? Something like this.....

"Mr. Dealer, I have a kubota Bxxx that is under warrenty and I am having some problems and what you to take a look at it"

"Mr. Owner, Where did you buy it at? .....Oh, well we cannot honor the warrenty because you didnt buy here....click"

If it went something like that, that is just stupid. Contact local rep immediatally, or e-mail them with the details and leave your contact info.

And dont be afraid to give this dealers name.

After reading this post, this has also happened to me.

I purchased a machine from a dealer several hours away because of the price. Several issues have occured with the tractor, but the dealer closer to me says that he will do the work, but will charge me. He states that he has to charge me because the other dealer should have done it and if I want the work covered under the warranty I need to take it to the dealer that I purchased it from.

I have called the Kubota district representative and he told me the same thing.

I guess Kubota does not pay enough for their warranty work and the dealers do not want to take the hit for a machine that they did not sell.

Makes me wonder if I should not have bought GREEN!!

I wish someone from Messicks would chime in and give us an answer. If it is true I may rethink my next tractor purchase.

I've heard a rumor of the same thing, something to the effect that the 'shop rate' for the warranty work is less than the going rate and if they sold the tractor they do so little warranty work that they're willing to eat the difference, but if they didn't sell it they're either losing money or only breaking even on the work. I do know of other equipment makers (not tractors) that have that practice. It'd be interesting to know if Kubota does that. Either way if you own a tractor and get good service from someone that's the first place you're going to look when buying a new one and the first place you'll recommend if asked. You can't build loyalty by just blatantly turning down the work. At least the dealer can explain the situation and offer to do the work if you pay the difference in labor rates (had one offer to do that for another piece of equipment and I was happy to pay it since they were being totally upfront with me).

What makes you think green is any different?

If my JD skidsteer needs work, it's going back to the dealer I bought it from (80 miles), not the local dealer (even though it is now out of warranty.)
