From a parental viewpoint, I would fully expect the powers that be to make sure, to whatever extent they can, that the bus driver isn't going to fall asleep while driving my child around.
From a free citizen's viewpoint, it seems reasonable to have the freedom to be as fat as you want (although I'm not).
From a free citizen's viewpoint, I also don't want to have to pay for others' choice to be fat (although I'm sure I do, & Obamacare is probably gonna make it more so)
Maybe I can't have all these "wants".
As an overweight person, maybe this process will determine that your wife is not actually qualified for this job, even though she's already been doing it.
Here's one way to look at it: If you saw your fat pilot looking sleepy or yawning, would you want to fly on his plane?
BTW, I do think that a person's weight is a reasonable characteristic to use as an indicator of a higher likelihood of sleep apnea ... although my woman is 100 lbs & she snores (not sure if she has sleep apnea, though, since I don't fully know that is)
