It was in the mid 60's here today.
It was warm for us today as well, 28 degrees F for a high, :laughing:. It is normal for our Janurary highs to be around 20. KC

It got to 39F yesterday, and all the buildings shed their snow. Funny thing is, i was heating the horse barn with two 175,000 btu salamander heaters, but that building took longer to shed then the unheated ones.
Go figure.
After they shed i got piles of WET snow about 3 feet high and ,maybe 8' wide.
I got out the new loader mounted blower to give it its first workout on tightly packed wet snow.
It did a great job, and so much faster than the way i used to do it.
In the good old days i would have to use the loader to break up a section of the deep pile, turn around tractor and blow it out. Then use the loader again,,, etc.
Each side of the horse barn used to take 1 to 1-1/2 hours to do. Took about 12 minutes now.
Also, the shedding from my shop used to take more than an hour to do, it took 5-1/2 minutes.
The shedding from the carriage barn was another 1-1/2 hour ordeal in deep wet snow, it took 8 minutes yesterday.
What is saving the time are 3 things.
1. I dont need a loader to break up the high piles cause i can raise the blower up as needed.
2. Wet snow use to clog my old blower ALL the time, and i had to dig it out. When the new blower gets clogged, i simply tilt it and tap it on the ground,a nd the clog dislodges. No need to get out of the cab.
3. No shear bolts to replace anymore
I have some new video that i will convert and past later today. It was sure fun to play with the new blower.

Heating the barn may cause it to take longer for the snow to slide off because the heat is melting from the bottom up. The roof steel is warmer so the snow against it melts abit but then the snow above it is colder so it refreezes and actually sticks more. Wet snow is stickier than dry frozen snow.

makes sense, but i usually have to heat it to shed it when it gets too heavy. It wasnt too thick this time, i just wanted it to shed so i could practice with the snow blower
