In reguards to this matter, #1 YOU DO NOT OWN THIS LAND! I understand what you are trying to say but, rule # 1 still applies. If you are this concerned about run-off talk to the company and see if a "Buffer Strip" could be left at your boundry line.
#2, If this lot is "mature timber," this company is "Stupid" not to log-it! Theres a term, "Log-it, or loose it".
When I cut on my land i do clear cut because the timber is mature and i do not object to doing so.
I delt with a situation about 30 years ago, where a joining 5000 acres was logged next to mine woods, and don't get me wrong here cause, our motto has always been, " the only good tree is a horizonal tree" but the logger jumped the line! in fact he moved the line about 500 feet to his benefit, well it got real nasty, in fact guns were drawn, there was a huge fine on the logger, we were paid an outragous amount of money for our logs (Joke being, we were going to sell these select logs to the logger but hadn't agreed on a price and no written contact was in affect!) and a 500" "Buffer Strip" was mandated which went over like "concrete sneakers" in the pool but "sucks" to be them! I was expecting them to clear cut but only on their side! Understand the fact in some situations "Clear Cut" is the only option.
All i can say is watch your line closely! make them clean up any mess they make on your side and in my state you "cannot" cut trees on a "boundry line." Who knows maybe something like an endless supply of tops for wood will be in order. . . .John
