Thanks Code54 sounds like a great idea but im wondering if there might be a difference in metric to inches measurement problems by importing from USA , again im showing my ignorance but is it just a sub frame which is the issue or are there other things to worry about...i'll ask my dealer or call kubota on monday and ask that exact question.. Why cant i just hook up the BH92 hydraulics to back of the mx5100 and start using it...lol does it need to be fitted to the tractor frame...?

...the other issue some have raised about the mx5100 is that it uses much more fuel...is this correct?
the other question is how many ton of dirt can the L4400 and the MX5100 towe in a tip /trailer easily?

I seem to recall seeing three remotes? at the rear of the MX5100 covered by plastic caps?

I had the same thought about simply importing a subframe separately for the MX5100. The BH92 is the same unit regardliess of which tractor carries it; the subframes are the unique items to attach it to each tractor model. Likewise, one might expect the US and Australian models to be identical, so it shouldn't matter whether the dimensions are given in standard or metric terms. However there are indeed details that can get a bit tricky. For example, when we added a Kubota backhoe to our Kubota tractor some years ago, it involved replacing the original ROPS with a different one. The subframe was designed to only work with the proper ROPS. Don't know if there would be any similar subtle details with a BH92 installation, but it would help immensely if you had a good Kubota dealer to help you sort the whole thing out. Best of luck!

Granddad4, when i had a look at the two tractors he showed me the extra bar going across the ROPS which he said interfered with the bh92 ...i really could not see how it could be some other technicality.. Yeah some salesmen just give you little bits of info and you feel they not telling me everything... so i got to do ALL the research...its a pain ...but i do enjoy this forums camaraderie. Hes noww trying to hurry me us with the sale is going to end...but i do need more info before i do the deal...lol

Grandad4... Looking at some other model brochures it seems the back hoe seat will not fit in to rear of MX5100 due to the bar across the ROPS...might explain why i cant get the bh92.

He is recommending a TITAN BH Made by MAZZOTTI...ever hear of them ...anyone?

I think the same bar is on the US models, and does not appear to interfere. Here's a link to a page on the US Kubota website that shows what appears to be the same bar just behind the BH seat.

Kubota Tractor Corporation - Tractors | M Series | MX4700/MX5100

I hope this link works for you. Here in the US, "kubota.com" defaults to the US site but I don't know if you'd connect to the same place when searching from down under without adding some additional suffix in the web address.

Those Italian backhoes are not seen in the US to any extent. They seem to have the European style, narrow, pedestal stabilizers instead of the wider, pivoting arm style common on US backhoes.

are there any other tractors I should consider around that price point? 21-27k for base tractor.

as far as what I will be using it for.. I have a 272 acre ranch, mostly wooded, 12-15 acres that will need to be mowed, lots of trees that need removed and dirt that needs moved. elevation is 2500 feet so there will be snow. probably wont be growing any crops.

is there another I should consider?

Holy thread hijacks! This certainly went a long distance away from your original question, didn't it? Thanks for your forbearance.

Depends somewhat on what kind of property. Western range and forest doesn't need the same level of maintenance required by field and pasture farmland in the eastern US, for example.

The 40-50 hp Grand L's and MX's are very fine machines and can do an amazing amount of work. If your place is 15 acres of property needing mowing and other maintenance and some trails on the rest, they would be perfect. But if you figure to get into major land clearing or the acreage to be maintained gets substantially greater, it challenges the limits of such equipment and the operator.

Your price point is going to limit what you can get into. Depending on your property and what you do with it, I could easily see something in the Kubota M series, 70-100 hp. range working comfortably for you, but the base units are well north of $27k, and you'd be upwards of $50k with all the attachments, etc.

thanks for the info.. as much as I would like to spend 50k on a tractor. I do think I want to stay under 30 with all implements. in the future maybe I will just need another tractor....or something like that. :)

I spent a little over an hour at the dealer today, driving both of them and seeing how they felt. I definitely think I am going to go with the L4240, felt more comfortable driving seemed more suited for a tall person, I am 6'4. my feet on the pedals felt more natural and that I could sit there for several hours with out discomfort. The seat was alot nicer and the tilt wheel was a nice feature as well. the ergonomics and the HST plus are the deciding factors for me.

Now to find the right price :) I will post pics when I pull the trigger.

thanks for all the advice.. even though some of it was off topic and unrelated, one cant be to picky on the internet.
