Me, personally, I refuse to have a battle of wits with those that are half armed.

Remember never to ask what box blade to use because that will result in a contest. Also never ask what arc welder to use since that will result in a contest among manufactures and those that have a particular point of view.
The title of this FORUM is Family and Friends, not campaign 2912.
Besides my daughter was already voted a National Award:

I was just informed today that I am the 2012 National Guard Bureau Volunteer GOLD Award recipient. The GOLD Award is the highest award the NGB gives to civilian volunteers. One person per year is selected from all 54 States and Territories.
So much for negative votes. I'll match her BIO up against anyone here at TBN. How about your neighbor?

I do hours and hours a week of volunteer work and don't look to be put on a float for it. I have done many many hours of work for Operation Homefront and helped raise thousands of dollars but don't look or want a magazine article or award for it. Actually I would refuse it. Try doing something nice and not looking for an award. Please don't preach to a choir you are not worthy of addressing.
People like you make me want to puke. Did you appear in the local paper with your giant bank check too? The true definition of character is what you do when nobody is looking.

You might want to read the title again: MILITARY SPOUSE OF THE YEAR AWARD..
Nothing about whose father is in the service but whose spouse is in a certain branch of service.
Performance: what performance criteria would you suggest for spouses? Age?
Agility? Education? or Location? Would you like the Defense Dept. to pick the winner? Did you even look to see that it is a Magazine that is running the annual contest.
Once again I have to repeat myself that this is the Family and Friends Forum and it appears that you lack either upon whom to bestow your pride about their accomplishments. Me, I'm thankful I have 4 children and 12 Grandkids and each is special in their own ways, and I will continue to bore all those that are within listening distance about them and their specialness. There are no do overs in this life.
Get up to the plate and knock off the mud from those cleets and take some swings. If you hit it great if not so what. Otherwise sit in the stands with that red solo cup and turn to your friend with the double order of chefs todos and tell jim how you would have pounded that fast ball if only you had made the team.

I didn't know we were playing the game if incoherent babble.
So a magazine ran a contest. What was the criteria for voting? Did the simply list names, publish a photo? Was it a beauty contest? Did they publish a short bio? To solicit votes in such a manner is unethical and dishonorable and if I won a contest in such a manner I would refuse the award.

Why don't you just go to the site and find out the answers for yourself.
Names were nominated by various Company, Battalion or other commanders based on what they thought of the persons actions for the entire group for the past year.
All branches of the Military are under the same criteria for nominations. All persons nominated go through a screening process and then 5 finalists are selected for the competition's annual award presented in Washington DC on May 10th 2012.
All nomination letters and all nominees Biographies are reviewed prior to 5 finalist selection. The winner from the final 5 in each branch is determined by email vote so that all persons with whom the finalist has interacted or is associated either in the public domain or the Military can participate in the process.
Family and Friends are encouraged to vote often and to enlist the support of as many others as possible. One must sign up in order to vote and I would expect all to read each candidate's BIO prior to voting and then check out all other branches and their finalists.
These are civilians not Military personnel although some spouses may have had prior service themselves and have an Honorable Discharge.
No one, I repeat no one, in this finalist group of whatever branch will refuse the award if won under the conditions set forth by the Magazine or the Military.

One good thing about having the right to a free choice is the free choice thing. Nobody said that anyone HAD to vote for anybody, just that you should
vote for someone and again, I AM HER FATHER. You don't like that, then take it up with her Mother or not vote, but don't try using your political rhetoric on my attempt to get some Military families their due.

With over 116,000 members here on TBN, are you sure Willl is talking about you? Did I miss something?

Oh I'm sure and so is he.

You don't know me or know what I'm thinking. Don't be so vain.

The only connection is your recent thread for a plea for votes.

I almost posted my gripe IN your thread but changed my mind in respect for our military.

So what your saying is what you write isn't what you're thinking or you don't think before you write?
There is no plea for votes, only information as to an event that involves Military spouses. If you don't want to vote then don't, but don't tell people that the vote is a scam when you haven't even visited the site yourself before you wrote what you were not thinking.
Appears like you do more typing than thinking because more views are on this site to see your comments regarding something you haven't thought about but have written about, than have visited the original post that you so graciously avoided writing in after you thought about it.

The act of posting what you did was a plea for votes.
If anybody can simply put out a plea for votes from internet acquaintances then the contest itself and it's winner is meaningless. Not how I would want to win anything.
