Kubota vs Deere

   / Kubota vs Deere #21
I am thinking of replacing my Kubota bx2230 with a newer tractor. Are John Deere tractors better than Kubota. I have a 2005 model Kubota and would like to go to a B2620 0r bb2920 tractor.

JMHO, but I don't see a huge difference in the compact tractors.
There are significant differences if you're talking about the bigger "farm" tractors. (say, 75hp and up)

As already said, find the one that suits your needs and your budget. Both of them are fine machines.

Just to put in my 2 cents worth - I own a Kubota B7510. When I was shopping around for tractors I did a considerable amount of research. I already owned a John Deere Gator and intended on purchasing a John Deere tractor until I did my research. The people I knew who used tractors for a living all recommended the Kubota tractors. Take a look at the places that rent tractors and tractor equipment. In my area they all use Kubota tractors. Also Kubota makes all their own parts to include their engines. John Deere does not (at least it was that way back when I purchased mine). In my opinion Kubota wins out over John Deere hands down.

The answer is.... which one you think is better.

No real "clear winner" in a comparison like this. Kind of like a Ford guy and a Chevy guy... But both have their advantages and disadvantages, you need to find out which works for you:thumbsup:

. . . Take a look at the places that rent tractors and tractor equipment. In my area they all use Kubota tractors. . .

Not to argue, but most rental places are only worried about their bottom line. They will buy what's cheapest - within reason. They don't want junk, but they're not concerned about your comfort or convenience either. They also want to be able to sell it when it's depriciated. (usually 5-7 years)
They can buy a "50 hp" Kubota cheaper than a "50 hp" Deere. And, the average rental customer doesn't care.

Example: (Disclaimer: all numbers in the following example are fictitious)
Let's say Acme Rental buys a orange tractor for $25,000. It rents for $25 per hour. Keeps it 5 years and rents it out 1000 hours, then sells it for $12,000. (gross of $37,000 minus the original $25,000 purchase price = $12,000 to the good)
Right beside it is a green machine that he paid $35,000 for. It rents for $35 per hour, but doesn't go out as often because Billy Bob takes the cheaper one. Keeps it 5 years and rents it out for 200 hours, then sells it for $25,000. (gross of $32,000 minus purchase price of $35,000 = $3000 in the hole)
OK, the 5 years are up. Now, Acme is going to buy 2 tractors. Guess what color they will be? ;)

An individual, buying a tractor for the long haul, possibly the rest of his life, has a different perspective. On my latest tractor purchase, I wanted power, traction, comfort, and convenience.

But by the same logic they are also going to buy the brand that's going to cost the least to maintain and repair.

A coworker has a NH TC33 and I always pick him. Somedays I call it a blue lawn mower other times it's a baby tractor. Has nothing to do with the brand, it's just the nature of having co-workers.
