On a plasma cutter don't just look at the price of the machine the tips can cost a lot and not last as long on some of the machines and will make the cheep one much moore expensive to run than the good one.
I just don't know about the weekend warrior buying a plasma cutter. The up front cost is staggering! If I had it to do over again, I don't think I'd buy one. For what little aluminum work I do, a skil saw, saws all, and the Ellis get me by just fine. Like I said, I just don't know about buying a plasma cutter.
Now I am not sure what to buy. Read piles of reviews and the hypertherm seems great but very spendy for the home user. Made for industrial usage. Might be over kill. Now looking at longivity 50i and a 250 stick machine. Any one have experience with these products ?
That 250-amp welder with adjustable arc force and hot start by Longevity is very interesting to me. My Dynasty is the first machine I ever used with arc force / dig. As impressive is that machine is with aluminum Tig welding, it plain sucks with SMAW! The little Everlast PowerArc 200 runs circles around the Dynasty with SMAW! The hot start and automatic arc force on the PowerArc got my attention, but didn't quite do it for me. I ran into a deal on a used Lincoln Invertec 350-Pro with adjustable arc force and hot start, oh man I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Loved it so much I ordered a new one, and sold the used one for $100.00 more than I paid for it. If that Longevity welder is anywhere near what the 350-Pro is, it is a steal at $450.00!
Our plasma cutters are stated to be the best bang for the buck, by CEO of Torchmate on Pirate4x4.com - we got some nice videos on the plasma cutters in action on our youtube page at longevitywelding's Channel - YouTube.
I would check out www.freeweldingforum.com to read some testimonial reviews on the plasma cutters as we are new here. However, if you wish to review our product on here, I can cut you a sweet deal.
Some Questions to answers:
1. How thick are you cutting?
2. Which metal are you cutting?
3. What power source do you have?
4. Will you get a CNC table in the future?
When are you going to start posting pictures of your welds with that new machine? I'm really interested in how it does. How do you like the hot start, and arc force?
