Hey that is a beautiful truck, I know you will be proud of it. My only recommendation would be to make sure and flush the Dex-Cool yearly as it can be a problem and stop up the cooling system.
If you are not informed on this problem go to google and type in Dex-cool problems and you will see hundreds of people's stories of their problems with it. I have drove many Chevys and have had the problems myself. Good luck with your new truck, it is very nice.

Yep, been down that road on my Saturn. Did no harm other than trash the radiator. My dad was not so lucky with his Corvette. It ate into the tranny cooler and allowed the coolant to mix with the tranny fluid doing $3,000 in damage.

Had DexCool in my last GMC and ran it to 100K without problems or changes...A 2004.

Wife's Hummer has 50K with the original DexCool and no problems there either.

Just what I am looking for but finding it hard to find one with a 6' bed everything seems to have the 8' bed.

You will be looking for a while if you want a 3/4 ton reg cab with a 6' bed as that is not an option. 3/4 ton ext or crew with 6.5' bed no problem. You may however get a 1/2 ton reg cab with a 6' bed if you wish.

There are definately issues with Dex-Cool but my local dealer mechanic said the biggest issue is folks topping off with tap water. You need to use distilled water or major issues.

Congrats on the new truck!

Love my new Chevy. Got about 1200 miles on so far, and she my favorite truck ever. I'l keep it till I can no longer get gasoline or E85 :)

BTW- the Dexcool issues have really been sorted out by now. I went 7 years and 170K miles on the original Dexcool in my 2004. I changed the water pump at 170K and therefore most of the coolant. the only issue I have was that the waterpump gaskets sealed an aluminum waterpump against the iron block. The gaskets were distrorted and torn due to the corrosion at the joint.

However I never topped up the coolant with anything other than pre-mixed Dexcool.

Very nice truck you have there...
Keep us updated on the performance pulling and the reliability...
I sure would like to get one like that but keep my dually for the heavy towing...

That's it exactly.

I was reading up on your whole thread last week Leo, I am loving it so far but I just have 100 miles on it. That 6.0 is a hungry little bugger but I knew that going in. The 3/4 ton has almost and 18,000 lb towing capacity with a 6,000 lb front end. I still have the wife's 03 Z71 that has been a great truck when I can get it away from her.
