Coffee ...Wow !

We tried an $80 Cuisinart coffee maker; first one was replaced under warranty, and I threw the second one in the garbage after its warranty expired. We now use a less than $20 Black & Decker coffee maker that works at least as well, if not better. And we use cheap coffee, Master Chef, from Walmart. It's as good as most coffee I've drank elsewhere, but if I ever find out what coffee and coffee maker were on the old Braniff Airlines planes, I'll pay extra for it; best tasting coffee I ever drank.

Years ago I broke the glass carafe in my old coffee maker. It was either a B&D or a Coffee Maker brand. I never liked the glass carafe and given that the coffee maker was kinda old I decided to buy a new one.

I ended up with a Cuisinart which we still use. I had to buy the most expensive one they made to get a stainless steel carafe. The thing has a coffee grinder that I do not use but it brews a good pot of coffee. :thumbsup:

I went through a phase of buying different types of coffee beans and grinding them. One XMAS I was at my parents and the only coffee they had was Foldgers Gourmet. Their cheap little 4 cup coffee maker made some pretty good coffee with Foldgers. I have been using Foldgers ever since. :laughing:

It's Dunkin Donuts coffee for me all the way........I don't even want to know what secret ingredient they use......:licking:

My Granny was a big coffee drinker. I wish she was still around so I could talk to her again...

Granny loved Dunkin Donuts coffee.

I brew my own coffee. I like it a certain way and it is cheaper for me to make it than buy it from someone else. We used to have a community coffee pot at work, heck it was MY coffee pot. People told me to stop making the coffee because it was too strong. :laughing:

We have hard water from the well. Every few months the coffee pot will not use all of the water in the tank to brew. When this happens I run vinegar through the coffee maker a few times to clean it out. After the vinegar I usually run the coffee maker a few times with clean water to flush out the vinegar. Did you catch the word "usually?"

One day I did not flush out the vinegar. I made my usual pot of coffee and went to work. Made the usual stop at the cafe to get my breakfast and went back to my desk to eat. I poured a cup of coffee and about spewed it all over the desk. Vinegar and coffee is not really good. :laughing:

I returned to the cafe for coffee. They have served Starbucks in the past but I think when this happened the were using Dunkin Donuts. So I got me some Dunkin Donuts coffee. Went back to eat my cold breakfast and drank the coffee. GAG! The stuff was horrible.

I poured it out and drank my vinegar coffee. It tasted better. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

I will always wonder what my Granny would have thought about the Dunkin Donuts coffee they were selling at work. Would she like it or not?

My wife drinks one cup every morning.She loves hers Keurig brand coffee maker because it makes one cup of fresh coffee a the time. It uses cartidges. There are over hundred of different kind of coffee available.
My mother drinks "Turkish" coffee. She puts ground coffee in the cup and pours hot water over it. Stirs that, wait for short time for the coffee grounds to settle on the bottom and it is ready to drink.

I LOVE coffee. I drink almost a pot a day.

I make my own blend, typically 95% french roast and the rest vanilla and I grind it to espresso level.

I have the $80 cuisinart stainless steel coffee maker that Bird threw out, and I love it. Never had an issue. I change the charcoal filter every 100 pots or so, and I use cold well water, I set the heat to the highest setting, and I also add grass fed cow's half-n-half from a little amish dairy in penn.

Makes me wish it was morning!

No doubt about it my wife and I have gotten in a rut of buying and drinking whatever coffee is on sale as others here had said.

We have tried Starbucks in the past and it always tastes burnt...so we gave that up...Dunkin Donuts...was just OK...We have bought coffees from all over the world in the past...WE even ground our own beans every morning for awhile....we have traveled to other countries and sampled their coffee..and I will leave you with this....

After all the coffee I have tried in my life this cup of coffee had a special something that had an incredible taste and especially the after taste..that made you want more right away....maybe I am glad I did not ask to buy some to make at home...maybe it would not have been the same or even worse maybe it would have been just as good and I would have been hooked on an expensive coffee....Things work out for the best...usually..

If you can find it, Eight O'Clock Dark Italian Roast (Purple Bag/White and Purple bag) is excellent. If you like strong, rich black coffee, this is for you. I use a Hamilton Beach Brew Station. One thing I really despise is the smell or taste of burnt coffee. The Brew Station will keep the coffee hot, but will not burn it.

I'm not a big coffee drinker but my wife is she recently took a business trip and came back talking about a coffee press. So we started looking for them found one at Walmart 20$ and I brewed the same coffee in it and the trusty Mr coffee machine WOW huge difference. Since then that is all I want is pressed coffee I recommend it to everyone. I challenge the coffee drinkers on here to try it. I promise you will love it

When I met my wife, more than 47 years ago, she drank coffee from the time she got up in the morning until she went to bed at night, and she still does.

I start drinking coffee when I get up in the morning and will probably have at least 6 cups before noon and rarely drink anymore after noon.

But we both drink our coffee straight; no cream or sugar or anything else added.

I know coffee keeps some people from sleeping if they drink it too late in the day, but the last thing my Dad did before going to bed at night was have that last cup of coffee.

She used to make coffee in those 24 cup commercial percolators, the big stainless ones. She would load it up with as much Folgers as it could possibly handle, and then add some more. This stuff would melt a spoon...

Her and my Grandfather would drink this stuff all day long. Then, my Grandfather would keep drinking it thru the night. He'd sit for hours and hours listening and talking on HAM radio, drinking "Super-Mega Strength" coffee and chain smoking Camel un-filtered.

They were one of the first to know of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I have mentioned this before on TBN. My grandmother had just baked fresh rolls, brewed fresh super-mega strength coffee, and was taking some to Grandpa. When she came in to the room, he looked at her and said "My God ma, we're at war; the Japanese are bombing Pearl Harbor."

He had been sitting on the radio, drinking that coffee, talking to someone in Pearl City when the attack started. He could hear the explosion in the background while they we talking. The guy ran outside to see what was happening, came back, and said they were under attack. Then they both went radio silent. That's when Grandma came in the room with fresh rolls and coffee.

Unless I am making a large pot of coffee, I switched to presses some time ago. It works out nice for smaller quantities like 1 to 4 cups. One of our other Scout leaders has been bringing a larger press on camp outs for the last couple years; beats out Scoutmaster coffee and the coffee served at the week-long summer camps!

I drink Gevalia and when I run out, Eight O'clock French Roast.
I have a Mr.Coffee coffee maker. Easy to use, but if the coffee stays in a couple of hours, tastes like the start of mud. I used to have a Delonghi cone style coffee maker. A cup from that 3-4 hours after it was made was just about as fresh as the first cup. It was designed to stop the evaporation of the water from the coffee.
Ever since stopping at a diner in New Brunswick and having real cream for the coffee- I'm hooked on real cream- heavy cream in my coffee. I like coffee- iced, black, warm, old, fresh, expresso, etc..
Lately I dump in some sugar, cream, honey, cinnamon - and it's good for my arthritis!
