I picked up a used 716B SB for my '95 1716. (I also have a #7108 series FEL) The owners manual for the SB is dated '98, so the SB is at least that old or newer. My problem is getting the spout (chute) to rotate right and left with the correct joy-stick move. With the hydro lines of the hydro motor hooked up to the spool that is activated by side-to-side motion I get rotation of the spout in only one direction of the stick and no movement in the other direction of the stick. Swaping the lines I get rotation in the opposite direction.
The hydro lines of the lift cylinder of the SB are hooked up to the spool that is activated by fore & aft motion of the joy stick. This works as it's supposed to.
The only way that I will get both operations working is hooking up the hydro lines so the fore & aft spool runs the lift cylider and the side-to-side spool runs the spout. Completly bass ackwards and dangerous.

Note: The FEL runs correctly with the tractor.

You need a non-regenerative valve spool in the bucket circuit of your loader control valve. Search 'regenerative' or 'non-regenerative' here.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have sent all my info, serial #'s, FEL #'s, my blood type, etc..........to Partspring to make sure I order the correct spool.

Should I assume that I will have to swap back the original spool to make the FEL run properly?

Thanks again!

They had better want to know the actual valve manufacturer. In many cases there were choices and all the numbers in the world won't tell them which valve is bolted to your tractor.
No, you won't have to swap spools back and forth.

In my e-mail I did mention that the valve is a Zexel unit.

Rick...are you there? I got a non-regen spool and its the same as the one in the Valve Body (Zexel). Now what do I do now?

Your spool is either mis-marked (a regen spool marked as non-regen) or you are not seing the differences between the two. I would call the seller, explain the situation then install the new spool. If it doesn't work as it should, the seller should refund your $$ or get a spool that works. Let us know what type of customer service you get from Partspring.

I've been dealing with Blue Tractor Parts.com The non-regen spool is no longer available from NH. The sales guy from BT.com searched the country and found two available. One was a new spool, asking price $400!!! The second from a dealer (no name given) was a "Take Out" from a new tractor that got an upgrade to the hydraulics. That one I bought for $230 + shipping.
When I compared the two by eye they were,in my opinion, identical........I even put a vernier caliper on them and they where both within +/- .0001" of each other. I did not install the purchased one into the control body. Are these spools that close in appearance?

You had mentioned Partspring, that's why I did.
If it was a takeout from a new tractor, why do you think it is a non-regenerative valve? It's not like there is an upgrade to a non-regenerative spool, nor is there any reason to part out a perfectly good loader control valve that would sell complete. I think you got boned if the spool you just got matches the one from your valve.

I have made and advised this spool swap more than once and your symptoms are consistent with having a regenerative spool in your bucket circuit.
You proved that by connecting the spout circuit to your valve's lift circuit and it worked. If you think I gave bad advise, I'll refund your money.

I wish there was a picture of what a Non-Regen spool looks like. The part # I was going on is SBA 340293452. Partspring said this was the correct part # for a Zexel Non-Regen spool. I just happened to stumble onto BlueTractor and their price was lower & free shipping.
BlueTractor was the one that said that part# is no longer available. Do you have a source for the spool?
