Put a Kubota V2203 in a Ford Ranger pickup. Want to over-ride the governor so I can get around 3000 rpm. Tried doubling up the pull spring on the speed lever,,, no luck. tried adjusting the fuel limit screw,,, no luck. How can I get rid of the governor? Anybody?:confused2:

What is the current max rpm that you can reach? It is likely the the injection pump has some sort of internal governer that protects the engine. Diesel rotating assemblies are really heavy and do not last as long at high rpms.
Maybe you can change the gearing of the transmission or rear axle to get more speed out of your set up.

Found out that the newly installed, electronic tachometer was not giving the correct RPM. Calibrated it with a hand-held tach and now we are getting 2800 RPM. The internal governor spring can only get a small amount of RPM increase. I put another spring inside of that spring and it helped some. The governor is driven on the camshaft and consists of rotating balls. I was told that I could remove 2 of the rotating balls and it would be like a car engine. I don't think I should do that since a diesel will run up and keep increasing rpm with just a small amount of fuel. I think it would blow up.
Thank you for the tip on changing the rear gears. We have discovered that there are many different gear ratios for this truck and we will try to choose one that will get the truck to 75MPH at about 2000 RPM.

What is the fastest interstate speed?
You should probably aim for WOT at 75MPH and 65MPH at 2000rpm? Or cruising speed

Real intrested in how this works and fuel econemy you get with it. Did notice turbo? How much boost? Let's see some pictures.
I fully understand the 75mph thing if you build it you need to be able enjoy and who wants to run wide open all the time and only go 65?

75 MPH is the highest legal interstate speed in the USA. Montana used to have no speed limit; but the dam Feds held up highway funds in exchange for a lower speed limit.
In the western part of the country away from urban centers, the speed limits should be higher yet.
How about a little info? I've been wanting to do the same thing,there are a ton of V2203 motors out there,but I have had no luck finding a flywheel for them.
Where did you find one? What size clutch did you use? How did you adapt it to the transmission? Did you find,or have to make an oil pan to fit the truck?

Texas just raise some of there interstates to 80 or 85 not sure which.
