Oklahoma Snow Removal Tools?

We just had our worst storm of the season here in central Oklahoma. I woke up to find my driveway buried under almost a full inch of snow. Is the FEL bucket enough, or do I need to get a blower? :laughing:

(But seriously--it's kind of frustrating. A year ago, I got my truck stuck in a five-foot-deep snowdrift, three months before I bought my tractor. This year? Nothing to play with at all. )

Hello Dave,

yes it is frustrating as ground in New York alternates between frozen
and mud every day almost and we have had little cold weather.

Yes took off my new LA2674 Snow blower and put on my Back Blade but only used that once, and then really didn't need it. As leonz said upstate N.Y. ground frozen a few days then mud for a few, crazy winter and it doesn't look like I'll get to use new blower either.

Am I the only one who fears the bugs this summer. Not having a long extended freeze I think they will be worse then usual.

Personally, I figure the ticks will be thick enough that I'll be able to walk from my front door to the mailbox and back without ever touching the ground.

That's one thing I don't have to worry about. Normally the snow cover keeps the frost to a minimum but with the lack of snow this year the frost is pretty think this year. Of course my dump truck load of sand for the driveway is a solid block of frozen dirt that even my backhoe can't cut through leaving me without sand for the rest of the year.

Thats what our mosquitos eat around here in Northern Michigan. Every time they bit a human you can hear them say "tastes like chicken"!!! CJ

Can you borrow a kerosene space heater/salamander? That will heat it up quickly, Using windshield washer fluid keeps it from clumping too.

We used to dump our winter sand over a series of shells made from 55 gal. drums cut in half length wise. If the sand froze we would build wood fires in the shell tubes to thaw the pile. It worked for us.

LOL. Yeah, I made a vee box that mounts on the back of my 6' box blade to push snow off of my 1/4 mile long gravel driveway this winter. I'm up here in northeast OK and we've had two snow storms for a total of tow inches. Both were gone the next day.
Our annual snow fall is only around 9" a year. We do have lots of ice storms in some winters.
Last year at this time we had a total of 46" of snow from feb 1 to feb 1o with record 81 degree high to 31 below in those ten days. Never saw the like. My tractor shed is about 200 feet from the house and with 3'-5' drifts in places it took me two tries before this old man could bust out a foot path and get to the tractor shed. Glad that happens only once in a hundred years.
