alchemy,

Since you mentioned something about about a loader in your first post, I thought we were talking about a loader valve.

Most all 3pt system have float as most don't have down pressure and therefore the T-N-T system, which will give down force.

My fault, I think I was going back and forth with loader and 3 point. I've never used a loader yet but was trying to understand float by my experinces with the 3 point.

Forgot to mention, in my brief try so far after the leak was fixed, the bucket did not have down pressure. I thought it would lift the tractor up but it's more like just dead weight. All the cylinders have ports at the top and bottom. Double acting? I'm pretty sure it will lift the tractor at least some if I tilted the bucket down but I didn't want to dump the dirt there  . I'll try that tommorrow in the daylight when I can take it out. The dirt was in the bucket because with those leaks I wasn't able to raise it back to my workplace and had to scrape the ground while getting there.

update: I didn't think of the fact earlier that the lift cylinders are all the way depressed when down and on level ground so that's probably why it wouldn't lift the tractor with the lift lever :ashamed:

alchemy,

If you have a hyd gage, tell me the pressure you are seeing when using the loader.

I'm not sure I have a hydraulic gauge somewhere but I may have some HP gas gauges somewhere if I haven't used them all.
BTW, what did you think of that ball valve? It doesn't look like it would handle > 2000PSI to me. But then I'm more used to gas pressure than hydraulic and most hydraulic stuff never did look like > 2000 PSI to me. It looks like a good quality but more like for water, propane or gas , not sure. Still not sure why it's there. It bogged the engine and disabled up/down when I tried it for a second last night. Is that good?

A 1/2 in steel carbon hyd valve cost about $27.

It was probably used the hold the load up when transporting.

If you read about 2000 to 2500 psi on the hyd gage when the cyl are maxed out, you can assume that the pump is good.

With that pressure, you should be able to lift the front of the tractor. To do the test, raise the loader and tilt the bucket down, and then put down pressure on the lift arms.

With the bucket flat on the ground, the tilt cyl should be able to lift the front end.

I just did some work with it, grating the drive and moving a pile of broken concrete fill. Overall, I was impressed. Seemed almost as good as a bobcat at times. I lifted the back of my 2600# trailer in the air to see if it would lift it. Seems like I could have lifted the whole thing if I could have got under it. I think it might be low on fluid because it would not lift if I was facing downhill. The fluid needs changed and the whole system cleaned out.
I was surprised how well it digs. I could not get down pressure anyway I tried but it would sure dig if you had the front edge downward.

Are you talking down pressure on the loader or the 3pt?

If you are talking about 3pt, you will have no down pressure unless you have a TIP cyl, as in T-N-T.

If you are talking about loader, depending on bucket, with the lift arms all the way down, that might be ground level. Using a taller bucket and where the pins are located the bucket determines if you can get down pressure. Try putting a 4 x 4 under the bucket and applying down pressure.

How does that work? I need some down pressure on my 3pt when I do our road.

Is this a trick question?

I would assume after reading through your post, that you would know these things.

However if you don't know, a special cyl is used to provide down force on the attachment. I would also assume that you have a remote valve to do this.
