Internet Explorer - My nemesis.

I use Mozilla Firefox and Opera, which both work fantastically.

IE ? Consider yourself redundant.

ok guys i'm gonna come clean.

masseywv has let me know, well.. I guess 3 times now that I'm a jerk for making the comments abut the typo.

I've apparently hurt his feelings. I advised him in the 1st pm to simply ignore me if my comments bothered him. that didn't sink in till after the 3rd pm just now, when I think he finally took it to heart :)

In any case. here's the apploogy to MWV .

sorry I made ya feel bad.

hugs n kisses. all better now? ;) :)

I'm -guessing- that if i had win7, it may not have been an issue. but i'm on xp.. so.... :)

in any event.. all is good now that i've roleld back to 8. just need to hold out to 10 I guess. that looks about like the way my luck goes with IE versions. 6 good, 7 bad, 8 good, 9 bad... am putting my $$ on 10... :)
Soundguy,
You just answered, for yourself, the reason for your problem with IE-9.
It was not designed to be compatible with XP. Google IE-9 compatibility with XP. I'm surprised Windows Update would allow you to attempt the IE-9 installation.
It works fine on W-7 even with it open in 3-4 windows at the same time and each window having a dozen or more tabs open. Big improvement over Vista and IE-8, OEM installed, which hung up all the time on the same computers. Vista reminded me of the awfull old days of W-ME. Fortunately, I purchased these computers at the time when the mfg. promised to supply a W-7 disk when it was released that kept all the other programs and settings in tact.
I rather doubt if your expectation of IE-10 working on XP will be a joy either.
XP was a great program after the SP-3 update and I still use it on an old homebuilt pc from the W-98 era occasionaly. The new hardware and W-7
is easy to use, much faster, and suppossed to be more secure.

Let me.. heck.. it was a sugested critical update :)

really.

the update always has 2 sections.. important and optional.

this was in the 'important' section!!!!

well.. that does answer a few questions.. :)

truth be told, I didn't come here to stomp on MWV's feelings.

I came her to steam about ie9 and gripe about it a bit.

Most of us here, I assume are adults and can bump chests publically and then go our ways.

like scooby. he's bumping me back good. i got -NO- problem with that. respect him and his opinion.. as with everyone else here.

MWV pointed out a typo.. no biggie.. I didn't fid the humor he did after I've heard the storry umpteen dozen times.

he took offense at my response.. Not really what this thread was about... in any case..

it got harry witht e pm exchange.. and I don't think I made im' feel any better with it :)

i got to feeling bad though.. if he REALLY did get sore about it.. so.. the public appology. twas' the thing to do... I'm just here to read and have fun like the res o' ya.. don't wanna be a hard but to no one.... well.. ok.. maybee a few of ya... ;)

( and no.. I didn't check for typo's.. so there' probably a few in this message! )

It always seems that MS gets every other piece of software to be decent whether it be browser or OS. Win me, Vista...blah. IE7 blah. XP still has a huge consumer base out there, sending an update like this blindly is crazy if it can possibly bomb on XP. How's my 78 year old FIL supposed to get by if the auto update bombs crippling his PC? Oh yeah...he calls me like he did today. Good thing I live next door. This is one of the reasons I moved to the network side away from working on PC's, I started around when the AT came out. 8086 baby...lol. Money was another player. ;) BTW, my go to browser is Firefox with seldom an issue but IE is my backup when a website isn't setup properly to work on FF. Should I update my MCSE...nah.

now that's just too funny.

way funnier than a typo I make because I have a small keyboard and screen..!

Hey, I don't tell people the keyboard is small. I tell them I have big hands!

You know what they say about guys with big hands, don't you???

Big gloves!

I see no one has mentioned the Maxthon browser.

I've used IE, Opera, Foxfire, Chrome and now Maxthon for the last few months.

So far, so good; I don't know if it's really any better than the others, but it's fast and has several features that I really like.
