I've never owned one, but was thinking about buying one several years ago. What turned me off was an apparent problems with the frames cracking. A Baltimore County policeman I knew (at the time) told me about this...so no first hand experience.
I can't recall the model number, but it was a full sized handgun.

I have never heard of this. Please Roy tell us more since I tried to search for it and can't come up with anything but Glock problems.

that would be the first time I've ever heard of that issue... I love my p230 sig.

This goes back to the early 1990's, I guess...that's not why I got into Glocks, since I already had one.

I did get a number of hits when using "Sig Sauer frame cracking" as a search query (Google).
I want to add a caveat to my previous post. Those frames were aluminum...as are Beretta frames (maybe not all models, but some). Aluminum is a strong material, but it can crack by repeating cycling.
I wasn't criticizing Sigs in general...just remarking why I never bought one.

I read two of them...didn't see any Martians in a hut in Florida link...were they packing Sig Sauers?

Sigs cracking..??? I don't think so..I heard of some Beretta slide cracks way back in the late 80's on some of the military pistols.. and that was resolved pretty quick. I have never heard of the Sig frame crack thing. I will give it a look though.

both appear to be in excess of 10ys old.. couldn't find much newer info on the subject using various searches.

I'd almost have to say it's a non issue / snipe hunt.

either it happend a few tiees and was statistically insignificant, and fixed.. or it was a percieved problem, with rare instances of it occuring.

i have bought a new gun, upon the first time fireing it, the hammer broke. I sent it back to the factory for free servicing... got it back 2 weeks later.. cost me nothing.. gun has worked flawlessly for the last 20ys.. was not a sig I've since collected many models of guns from that manufacturer... with no other issues...

good gun.. had a defect that was fixed... end of story..

I'm betting the sig issue is of similar style..
