Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Anyone have this bench drill press from Harbor Freight?

You're right. That is the SAME picture! Not similar, but exactly the same.

How are those guys who swear by the mantra that you get what you pay for going to explain that one.

The HF one is $102 after a 20% off coupon. The Sears one is $300. And yet someone out there will still try to argue that the Sears one is better because it costs more.

I wish I could get a marketing list of all the people who truly believe that you get what you pay for. I could become a millionaire by selling them stuff for 3 times what they should pay.

I didn't realize Sears now includes third-party vendors on their website like Amazon. The seller for this drill press isn't Sears, it is apparently some guy who runs down and buys one at HF when he receives an order from his listing on the Sears website. Agreed, the additional $200 buys you nothing at all in this instance.


I found the HF 10" table saw was identical to the Skil version at Lowes except for the decoration. In this case Lowes was cheaper, theirs came with the base that costs $29 extra at HF.

A few years ago I was at a local drive line shop having one of the work trucks drive line balanced or something. Was looking around at the display stuff and noticed that they had the same Harbor Freight $19 ratcheting chain binder for $59 or some such markup. Same casting letters / numbers and garish orangish-red flakey paint.

I went to Lowes to buy a new circular saw determined to buy an non Chinese made one but all were made in China including the Japanese brands.

You would not think they would use the same photo. Are both companies buying from the same supplier? Wouldn't Sears try a little harder to make it look like their product was better or at least different than HF?

Right!!! Buy the one from Sears!!!

Or the one from the driveline shop that flyerdan went to.

Saving money on the same product sucks. What kind of cheapskate does that?
