Price Check I think I shall be saying good bye to my 6420 soon.

And I will need to get around 3 or 4. One for the 6715, 6430, 5200 for the sprayer and seeder. The 6715 and 6430 can easily hop on and off with the tiller or plow or any other attachments I got.

I have never heard of a Meri-Crusher, It sounds like its very expensive. The tree roots on the ugly property is about 20 acres as the guy told me, But I rather have a few clean up days than having something at full rpm going slowly to munch all that stuff all up.

I use that QH on the heaviest stuff! Everything light - I hook and unhook. I don't like crawlin' up and down - back and forth - with that iron that just needs to move another 2 inches... and the 4"x4" just keeps sinkin' in the dirt!!

They are expensive! Made in Finland, I think. The local Soil, Water conservation district has one up here for rent... 6' footer that weighs around 2,200lbs - cost $25K!

How do you run your tiller's? Sink 'em in the ground as deep as they'll go - right off the bat - first trip in the field?!!? Not me... first pass is shallower; next run is deeper. Same with the Meri-Crusher.

One guy up here had a 150hp (@pto) tractor on it and tore the driveline out ($1,500 added to his rental) with a "git er done" attitude..

This is a pic of the Meri-Crusher on a JD 2640 (70hp@pto). Newly cleared field.

Looks like way too much money for me, Before my tiller starts I do is Rip the amount of land I will be planting or seeding on or disk doesn't really matter. Then I stick it deep as it can go without clogging the tiller up with soil.

I've decided to trade one of my Massey Ferguson 245s. My dealer wants it for $ 7,000  I bought it at an auction for under $ 5,000. Sounds like a good deal to me. The Massey I have is pretty much rebuilt so its a good deal for me. My salesman is giving me 90,000 which is around 15% off list. Which sounds like a good deal to me. With 90,000 - 7,000 and I will be giving another 3,000 dollars for a down payment and financing it for 4 Years.

I was talking to my salesman the other day when they were fixing up the 5420 he told me he found a s**t load of sand in the tank, I hope hes being honest because that cost me 500 dollars and I have a stack of repair jobs for it. So it wasn't a little bit of money.

My 5085M has some problems with it too, there is something wrong with the reverser on my because it drives for less than 10 seconds and then the "N"eutral indicator on the dash flashes.

Taking the 6420 to the dealer to fix it too might aswell because some of the fuel lines are rotted, I tried getting away from it by trading it.. But I ended up keeping it. I might do a complete service on it on the 6420 like I did to the 5420. Might increase the value for next year..

Edward,

Good thing there's some real $$$ to be made on those fresh veggies!!! :D That's gonna be a hefty check every month for the next 4 years! (Wasn't that the whole idea of trading the 6420... darn near cut the price in half with the trade-in?)

Oh well, like you say; there's always next year... and another tractor!

Have you looked at your OP and Maintainence manuals for the 5085M for the blinking N business? I think I'm gonna break down and buy the Technical Repair manual(s). Think it was $350 or so with the dealer.

Sand, huh? Did you p!ss one of the local kids off? (Or your wife...?)

You've got a real fine lookin' 5310 with loader, there. Way over-kill on that telephone pole!

I'm startin' to get antsy just waitin' around for your new tractor, too! Needs some new tractor pics - tractor junkie - another fix!

Well 2.9% isn't that bad. Its about 1800 a month, or around 22,000 a year.

I do have the manuals. I don't use them though. I can just let my dealer do it, its under warranty , I might tell them to replace the parking thing too since I got something in the mail about some recall.

Well I don't know about making any kids mad. Other than they're a lot thieves in my area.

Not so nice when you got to bring it to the dealer and split it in half to replace that clutch.

Its almost been a month, one down two more to go.. :confused2:

Yeah.... ain't that somethin'..!!! ***** long enough and maybe you'll get a letter in the mail!

When I went to the local dealer to collect on a refund for the repairs - it was an interesting conversation; to say the least. Gathered very quickly that the dealer had double charged - me and Deere - and was not planning to inform me - or JD.

Good guys to keep a close eye on...

Yeah.. their idea of making money involves vaseline.. We're all lucky here - 5000 series owner's! Too bad there's nobody from the manufacturer here on TBN to give folk's a head's up - especially owner's that don't have a dealer close by.
