BX owners don't like to accept the "limited" tag on the Cat 1 three point, but the reality is that sometimes, an implement is indeed too wide and too tall for diminutive power house that is the BX.

There are simple laws of physics at work here. Yes, Kubota raised the fulcrum on the BX around 30 into the 50 series, I believe, and that helped some, but you can't make the BX wider and you sure as heck can't make it taller. It's just the way it is.

This comes from a dyed in the wool BX lover, btw.

Well maybe not "all" of us; never bothered me and I have use some of the same stuff off of our Ford 600s on a BX. Now a couple looked kind of funny, but they worked.

I don't much care what it's called as my 2200 was "limited" and my 2660 isn't and they pretty much handle the same stuff.

What "limits" the BX is its size, not what the hitch is called, well in my experience anyway.

In further researching, I'm coming to the conclusion that you are all correct and I am wrong. But, it's kind of a matter of semantics. :)

Seems the older BX's were actually labeled "Limited Cat 1" due to their physical limitations, primarily the limitation to the height they could raise. Then, when they raised the pivot point, they said it was now a truly standard Cat 1 hitch. (Which I guess it is because it meets the spec I guess?). However, it does still have some physical limitations due to arm length and spread, but they no longer call it a Limited Cat 1, because it technically isn't...

Some Cat 1 implements are made too large to fit the BX series due to the BX arm sizes and spread, and these implements may well be over-sized for the BX anyway.

So, I don't have a "Limited Cat 1 hitch" on my BX24, I have a Standard Cat 1 hitch. But we need to be mindful that not all cat 1 implements will fit, due to the hitch's "limitations". :D I notice that the Land Pride mentioned in this thread and the KK I mentioned both advertise fitting the "narrower hitch" - not describing it as fitting the "limited hitch".

I agree with all of the above. BXpanded, TripleR, et al.

The BX of today is not a Limited Cat 1. But there are limitations on certain implements.:laughing:

I have a Cat 1, KK field cultivator that didn't work. Couldn't clear the tires and couldn't hardly pick it up high enough, except traversing on pavement. Most of time, in the real world, you normally are heading off pavement with a field cultivator.

My neighbor has a Cat 1 PHD he uses on his B7510 that didn't work, when I borrowed it. Way too tall. I bought a standard, Cat 1 KK middle buster, only to have to take it back and exchange it for an XB model, because the standard Cat 1 version couldn't be lifted high enough off the ground for transport by the BX. These are just realities.

Speaking of getting off the pavement and getting far afield, we've certainly wandered from the OP's questions. I apologize.

No apology necessary, I enjoy the discussion. Having said that, I brought the Land Pride home today. Tom graciously donated a 2x6 to help the mower fit in the back of my truck. He then loaded it in with his new L 3700 w/forks--a cinch. He then gave me the jerky 3 point demonstration--not a cinch. This is the first I've seen of one of these and it is a real problem, even at dead idle. Speed it up to working rpm's and you've got major league jumping.

I've had Woods implements, never had a Land Pride. It's a very ruggedly built mower indeed. Hasn't seen a lot of use, but needs blade sharpening and of course a good greasing (the blades themselves are VERY stout). It appears to have been kept outside--those days are over. I unloaded it with my Ford 641 with 3pt boom and chain, no problem. Hooked it up to the BX and it lifted it over a foot off the ground (the lift arms attach to the inside). Tom told me the front end might be light, but not so with the blower attached. ;) After the snow is gone I'll get to try it out in earnest. I'm pleased with it. :)

Sounds sort of schizophrenic, mower on one end, blower on the other....

Well I was thinking about looking for a used 5ft bush hog for my bx 24, but I am wondering if it would be to big for the tractor? Has anyone used a 5ft or 6ft bush hog with the bx 24, and will all brands fit? Sorry if I am hi jacking the thread again.

Check your manual, I believe it will recommend a 42" cutter. I use a 48" without a problem as to power or weight, but there is no way I would try a five foot; too little tractor weight and power to spin it in my opinion.

I used my Dad's five foot bush hog behind my BX2660. I had no problems however the grass was only 6-8 inches tall and was sparse as I was cutting trails in the woods. Power was never a problem. The weight was a different story. Next time I will be putting counter weights on. If I were to buy my own, I would buy a 4 foot model.
