I have the optional rear scv installed in my 2011 3720. There is a three way switch on the right control panel to select the functions. I push it forward and the rear valves open and control the snow plow angle left and right. The last snow storm the angle left and right failed and stopped working but then after turning the tractor on and off and playing with the switch would resume.
Today well moving the tractor in warmer weather the same thing happened when I engaged the switch the left and right angle would not work. I turned the tractor off and opened and closed the rear valves manually with the little adjuster at the rear. It worked again but when I played with the switch then reingaged it , again nothing.
Stupid question but what should I be looking for in order to trouble shoot. Fluids are all good and loader functions work fine. I am reading the manual and I don't understand how the selective control valve lock lever works. I see it in the manual saying it does all sorts of things but in the actual tractor all I see is a little lever that pulls out and pushes in and says joystick lock lever.. a little confused but can't have the scv failing to function in the next snow storm we get. Anyone else had problems? could it be a bad selector switch or the valve control unit at the rear of the tractor or is it the operator?

My 2nd function switch sucks, asked the dealer to change it at the 50 hour service. They apparently forgot. I often have to sometimes switch it off and back on to get the red light to illuminate. But in your case it sounds more like the solenoid valve itself. If it's the 2011 listed in your signature line, the solenoid is the rearmost of the two that are located beneath and forward of the right cab door. A 2011 must be still under warranty though. I'd let the dealer remedy the issue.

your scv lock lever has nothing to do with the rear scv just so you know. It can lock the joystick in neutral, or engage and disengage the Regen feature for bucket dumping. that is another story for another day.

I just got my 2012 3720 cab and i also hate the rear scv. the buttons on the joystick seem to stick.

I wired in a toggle switch to control the 3rd rear scv also. It is a switch from a 4720 cab that would control the 4th or 5th rear scv. I just tied it into the joystick switch so i can use either one. So far i like the toggle way better.

I also made a 4th scv for the rear by adding an open center valve. i'll get pics of that up soon. I am controlling it with the scv lever and cable from an early model 3x20 cab. The lever goes in the slot to the left of the 3pt lever. It looks 100% factory and so far works great. best part about a manual scv is a got the float function again.

Ok Thanks Greg was just playing with it again this morning and doing some maintenance checks and now it is working. I don't understand the joystick lever lock it says it has 3 positions in the manual yet it feels like you can push it in once or pull it out. My loader control does not lock in place? I see no difference in how the scv works? do you have any experience with this lever and what exactly is it supposed to do?
Also there is a little plug sticking out the back window just wondering if you knew what it might be for? still learning about this tractor.

Thanks
David

Well, I'd need a photo to be sure, but I think it may have been put between the glass and the seal by accident. I've got the standard seat, and have a spare wire and connector lying on the cab floor. I assumed it was for the air suspension seat upgrade. But I do have a pair of open connectors (purple) outside the cab. They're just dangling to the left of the QD bracket. Again, I've got nothing to back this up. But I assumed they were there for the electric rear solenoid option.

As far as the little lever beneath the joystick, I too have found both it and the manual to be useless. Not only does it not seem to respond to the actions described in the manual, it doesn't seem to do anything at all !!

Ok Thanks again Greg I did put up some pictures but maybe you can't see them. I do have the air ride seat installed I will send the pictures to the dealer and see if he can identify what the plug is for.

yeah, I see them now. Apparently they hadn't finished loading when I first glanced (slow connection). But that looks larger than the connector lying on my cab floor, methinks' it's something else. I see some other device to the right of it that I don't have either. So I'm thinkin' our rear hydraulics may not be configured the same after all.

How do you lock the joystick it does not seem to lock it at all when I pull it out or push it in? does the tractor have to be off to do this? does it lock the loader in float position or something? regen feature I read about that in the manual but that little lever does not move like the manual says it does?

I can't remember off hand but i think you push the lever in to lock the joystick. I was messing with mine and it finally went after wiggling the joystick around. It was not an easy task.

and i think the regen is in the middle position????

When in regen you can move the joystick farther to the right. You can feel it go into the next "slot" compared to if the regen is off. It takes a little messing with to figure it out.

I noticed when i had the RH console on mine off the lever moved alot easier into the 3 designated "detents". Maybe the console is binding with the lever somehow? I didn't take the time to investigate because ill never mess with mine again anyways.
