I seem to recall somebody coming up with an alternate design for these GM electrically heated gas actuators.
Been a while, so I don't remember the source, but the new design did away with the gas portion - if these aftermarket ones are still around, they've been around long enough to validate "better reliability" claims.
Just wanted to toss that out there as an option, esp. if the OE ones are now stupid money, out of stock.....
(One of the original selling points of the new actuator design was "If you just sunk your truck in 3 feet of snow, do you want to wait for the gas to heat up ?". I don't expect much snow down your way Soundguy, but this might be a consideration if you have to deal with water crossings).
Wishing you a speedy diagnosis, Dave.
