we dont have a permit here in pa. We have a license. it is a license to carry firearms. It gives you the right to many things as well as opencarry in the city of philadelphia even though pa is open carry. Check your license my friend becuase it says license to carry firearms. no where on it does it says "permit" or "concealement". Many many people are misinformed that it is a permit to carry concealed when that is only a perk to having one

I'm well aware of that...and read a lot of bickering on PAFOA.org about the terminology.
However, "permit" is the word most folks would recognize...so that's what I use.
But,yes..it is a License to Carry Firearms. I've had one since 1988.
Brother, I am well versed in PA firearms laws...I even testified against one (one of Rendell's cronies pushed a one gun a month bill (Rendell was still mayor of Philly then)) in Harrisburg.
Misinformed..no. Just using more commonly used terminology.

In Missouri it is called an "Concealed Carry Endorsement" and it goes on your drivers license just like your motorcycle endorsement. You do have the optionn of getting the "endorsement" on a separate card that looks like your license only of a different color if you don't want the casual observer to see it on your license.

Permit, license, endorsement, does it really make any difference what it's called?

Wish ohio did ours like that. One card does it all.

It has worked out fairly well so it seems. Here we don't need anything to carry concealed in a vehicle if you are over 21 I think, so some people don't even bother to get an endorsement. We are pretty lucky as we can carry in restaurant where alcohol is served as long as you don't drink. I don't drink, but some places I eat also serve drinks.

Back in I think it was '99 the anti propaganda was. "it will be like dodge city all over again, and blood will run in the streets" Ads actually said that, and the vote failed. Then the Legislature finally passed it and went into effect in 2004. I will never forget some of the idiotic things I heard in opposition to this bill from people who should know better.

Oh sorry dude I didn't know you knew. I have had one since the 90's and I was misinformed up until I read about it on pafoa about a year ago. So I have had the habit of informing other people that might not know
