Sears Tools That Suck On The Price

i won't use kenmore anymore... sears stuff used to be good.. but has turned to expensive junk.. might as well pay a cheap price if buying junk.

I can remember in the ld days, moving and taking my washer dryer with me.. they were investments and lasted 20ys. now if you can get 10ys out of them you should get a plaque!

The neighbor's kid had to buy a new fridge recently, was told to expect it to last only 5-7 years. Many of the appliances are made in the same factory, just re branded with different names but use most of the same parts. So really a higher priced appliance may not be any better than a cheap one.

The big differences I see are the cheap ones have wire shelves, expensive has glass, cheap = mechanical thermostat, expensive = electronic, cheap has 1 light, expensive has 2 or 3...

From what I can see, the cabinets, interior (plastic) lining, compressor, fans, insulation are all pretty much standard across the line for the same size reefer. bigger ones or the top of the line built-ins are a little better built, but the ones people in my income bracket buy are all pretty much the same whether you buy Kenmore, Whirlpool, Maytag, GE or LG. Most likely none of them will last like the ones we bought when we first got married.

Planned "obsolesence" seems to be the plan now. When was the last time you heard of anyone having a radio, TV, microwave, VCR (what's that??) or DVD player repaired? In fact, off hand, does anyone even know where a TV repairshop is any more?????

As for Sears opening an outlet store next to Harbor Freight... Same items, same "rent district" be it High, median or low rent, that's your call LOL

:confused:There's many things in this old world that I'll never understand. And this is just one more of them. People mad at Sears because they're selling cheaper stuff (at least in their opinion), but the same people like Harbor Freight. And where are more customers? Where they can buy the cheapest. And that's Sears' fault?:confused::confused:

I think the beef is that the same tool at Sears is 2X$ the HF$ or thereabouts.
And that, in many cases for the EXACT same item! (as showed earlier for a press drill)

PILOON, You're absolutely right !! But in some instances, it's 5 or 10 or even in one case 20 times more expensive at Sears for exactly the same item. In fact, the picture on some of the Sears items have the same stock number/item number as the HF item.

I saw that too on the razor blades:laughing::laughing:

Sad thing though....HF has a MUCH better picture quality than sears.

Hey if I like HF why would Mr. Sears not stop there as well.

Sometimes I will buy several sets of stuff that is marked at a huge discount and been asked if bought to resell so I guess it is not that uncommon. I give them as gifts to guys that help me from time to time or family.

I guess I am OK with Sears reselling Harbor Freight tools. A lot of people do not have easy access or even know about HF.

Does anyone even know the parent owner of Harbor Freight? It could be the same as Sears as far as I know.

You're really OK with Sears reselling a $10 HF air cutoff tool for $200 or reselling a $3 pack of single edge razor blades for $25??? You don't call that "gouging" the public???WOW !!!

Hey I am not GOD.

Until there is a law that Harbor Freight tools can not be resold for more than XX% markup Sears or anyone else can charge what they want as long as they can find a greater fool.

I think you do not understand the meaning of 'gouging'.

price gouging - definition of price gouging by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Sears appears to be at the base of the down side of their bell curve so what they now do is without long term meaning in the eyes of some.

Hi bird,

I am thinking the point is that man of us are willing to pay for quality

Me for example, I will only buy my sockets, and extensions and the like from sears

I've broken too many HF type sockets and wrenches to buy anymore any time soon

I need my tool to work at the time I need it to work, no time o stop what I am doing and run out to the store to replace

I've not asked sears to cut price of craftsman i am willing to pay for a good quality tool that will not break

Unfortunately it seems to me that sears has taken it onto themselves to cut quality and cut prices

I must admit their new ratchet handles seem and feel like junk compared to the ones I bought 26 years ago when I purchased my first craftsman tool set

YES The main point here is gouging. Plan and simple and even price gouging is ''OK"" But my personal point is if Sears has lowered itself to this levele then I dont care to deal with them. Its no different than some guy being a coach, and then going home and selling drugs. Of cource the drug selling is going to detract from peoples judgment of him.
