Hawke 6x12 Dump Trailer

I respect your opinion but I disagree. Many years ago, one could buy something with reasonable certainty that it was made well and that it would last, but unfortunately that's not the case today. In the age where profit is often more important than quality, I'm simply ensuring that I don't end up making a $5000 mistake.

The nice thing about it...it's your money and you buy the one you like best!

No argument here, but re-creating the two systems in miniature is way over-thinking it. Stick with a quailty manufacturer and buy the model that will suit your needs.

I'm one of those wierdos who will strike up a conversation with anyone pulling into the gas station or bigbox store towing a trailer. "how do you like that XYZ brand, where did you buy it", etc. I find guys to be honest, and if their trailer wouldn't dump, something broke, etc..... they will clearly admit their trailer was well overloaded.

One thing I would pay alot of attention to, is the prep work a company does before the paint / powdercoat. I see ALOT of them rusting out long before they should.

I agree that completely recreating the entire system in miniature would be a bit much. My miniature comment was more speculation than anything, but if I were to attempt anything like that, it would have been something very simplistic using whatever I had laying around in my garage, and in my spare time.

Many of them do seem to rust out far sooner than they should, and it's funny that you mentioned it because one of the things I looked for was pictures of dump trailers that have been used and hopefully left out in the weather, to see how they held up with time. For example, here are two pictures of a used Hawke dump trailer I found online. While it does have some rust, it seems to have held up fairly well overall.
