Honestly there are some things I like about them, some I don't. When I'm using the trailer for hauling building materials, hay, and other misc. stuff they are great. It is nice not having the ramps in the way all the time and I imagine with less wind resistance it makes for slightly better fuel economy.

However, for loading and unload equipment a lot they can get tiresome. They are fairly low to the ground so you really have to bend over to slide them in and out. Also once out you must then close the little doors again to keep them from interfering with the ramps during loading. If you were only hauling a piece of equipment a few times a month it wouldn't be an issue. Sometimes I load and unload equipment several times a day though.

As for the weight rating, they should be able to handle a ~6000lb piece of equipment, since that is about the cargo capacity of the trailer. The heaviest thing I've had on it was my F-150 trail rig which weighs about 5000lbs and the ramps are still good and straight.

Thanks for the input.

All good info to help me make my decision.

A Cobalt to a Silverado?...No Fords?...Just sayin' :D

Yes, I have had two Fords on it. Just giving a size range since the Cobalt and the Silverado I have both had to haul in the last 3 weeks. Siverado for a fuel pump and the Cobal just a starter but it was in a Hospital parking lot and security would not let the owner even put a starter in it there. They told him it was against the rules to work on anything and they said if he did not get it out in 3 hours they would have it towed.

I brought home a Aviator back in 2006 for my neighbor from a Auction in Detroit to our house. I was sent up on a mission to buy it for his wife.

I also rescued a Lincoln Mark 8 with a broken tie rod end from the drag track that belongs to my mechanic. That thing will run with a Super Charger and Nitrous on the 32 valve 4.6.

I have had just about every brand. I can honestly say though I have had way more GM products. They were very plentiful in my area 10 years ago and now many of my friends kids drive them as first cars and you know how that goes. Most are now beat up pretty good. Just hauled one last weekend with a broken water pump shaft.

But to be fair I have hauled Toyotas, VW's, Honda's, Dodges, Kia's, Hyundai's, ect also.
