And conservatives want the government out of everything but people's bedrooms and your wife's pants.
You fell for it.

I'll elaborate on what Iowachild said: The arguement you are referring to was first brought up be Goerge Stephanoplis, in his interview of Mitt Romney, on January 7 2012.

It has all been staged by the democrats to take the countries mind off of Obama's failures.

You can believe what you want, no one can stop you. But being an 'informed citizen' of the USA will benefit you in the long run.

I bet you believe that the unemployment rate is actually 8.3% also, don't ya?

Look up the U6 number and get back to me, and while you are searching.........might want to look at how the administration arrived at the 8.3% number, and the history behind the numbers.

How many presidents have been re-elected with an unemployment rate higher than 8% ?

Did you know that the government 'reduced' the number of available jobs in the U.S. by over 2 million? What does that do to unemployment numbers?

Be informed. That is your only weapon in this world of innacurrate reporting.:)

A Commodities Futures Trading Commissioner, Bart Chilton, originally appointed by President Bush, says every time you fill up your F150 $14 goes straight to Wall Street speculators. (I'm definitely in the wrong business.) The CFTC is trying to implement Dodd Frank but the commission is being stymied at every turn by the investment banking industry which is suing the CFTC over Dodd Frank mandated regulations.

It amazes me that politicians are promising to repeal Dodd Frank. I doubt if most people even know what DF is supposed to do but the politicians do. And they are pandering to Wall Street by telling the Right that DF was pushed through Congress by President Obama and the Democrats and therefore is bad and needs to be repealed. DF bad. DF is Obama. DF needs to be repealed. Rinse and repeat. I guess so that we can go back to the bad old days of the unregulated Bush years.

Oil companies making nearly 10% profit are small compared to the hundreds of billions made off us by speculators who desperately want to repeal DF. But, still, I would love to make 10% on my gross sales. Ask any trucker if he would be happy making 10% on his gross. But that same trucker will believe the ranters on talk radio that the truckers are just doing their patriotic duty every time they fill their saddle tanks and 10% goes straight to the bottom line of the oil companies.

California - $4.37 a gallon but dropping a little.

I have read this entire post, and I have to say that it has been facinating. So much information, true and untrue. Maybe the best forum I have ever read.

Gas prices are not that high. Look around the world. Get out of your chair and see something. Stop listening to others, and find out for yourself.

The US spends a lot of money on it's military. A large chunk of this is to protect our energy resources. We don't have three carrier groups in the middle east just for giggles. They protect our energy (oil shipments ). We pay for this in our taxes. Yes, our taxes. We pay this to our government (which is suppose to be just a group of us) that we elect to make these decisions for us. And we do. Kinda......

We are "The" empire in the all the lands on this planet. We do good things, we do bad things. We are 300 million out of 6 billion on this planet. And we live the easiest lives out of everyone. Ask someone in Uganda about food stamps. We bicker with each other over petty stuff. We watch idiots on a box in our living room, and say "this guy tells the truth, and that one doesn't". We say "if so and so is president, the country will fall". Rome did not fall in a day. Neither did Somaria, Mesopotamia, or the Mayans.

Over 10,000 years, we have been trying to create a great society. They have all failed. This one will fail too. But we are getting closer. Much closer. I am pretty happy with that. So, for now, I will pay the pump what they ask. I will step in and help my neighbor when they need it, and I will enjoy living in the easiest place to live on this earth as of right now. And I will stop complaining about a few bucks at the pump. We have bigger problems right now.........

InflationData: Gasoline Inflation
--------------
Check the inflation adjusted gas price in chart below - Look at increase from 2000 to 2008. I challenge a motivated critic to find the number of times the nearly 2505 increase was blamed on that Administration on this board. Now compare it to the number of criticisms to the current administration on this board. lets be fair and balanced. Kinda looks like a trend to me with the considerable drop from 2008 to 2010 largely due to serious recession and lower demand.

And better yet lets enjoy our relatively comfortable lives as suggested by RJD2516 and try to give someone else a hand.

Thank you for your wonderful post. It's refreshing to see folks that know what's going on to a point. We never know the big plan in detail but we can understand the picture.

We could nationalize our energy system and pay far less at the pump. Then when we drill at home the oil stays at home. Then we'll find out if we have enough to make it on our own and I don't think we do. Soon as price goes up usage will follow and there we go again. Just my opinion we're in the beginning stages of a change to natural gas. Just think how much faster that could happen if our leaders would put their heads together and get that done now. Until then I'll pay the price and make cuts any place I can to make up the difference. Country should come first and I'm willing to do my part.

I just bought 160 gallons for $3.56 per gallon in Arkansas so we are a bit cheaper than California but we dont have a many illegal aliens to support so I guess we can do lots of stuff cheaper.

Do you really not see that this statement is in total contrast to itself? The gov't taking it all over is the absolute, very last thing that we need. The more involvement from them the higher the price will be.

I agree and that's why I wrote it. Seems most of the folks complaining and blaming are looking for lower fuel prices and political purposes. They don't want regulation. Can't have it both ways in a world economy. Look at what I wrote. I said we could. I didn't say we should.

So if we don't want regulation or any type of control then why discuss this in the first place. Pay the price at the pump. What ever it is. If any one is to blame it is us. When you stick your finger in the yellow jacket nest(middle east) you should be prepared for where we are right now. And we aren't prepared as a nation. But we will be in time. Gotta get all the kicking and screaming out of the way first and then we'll come together and get this job done.
