Hello all,
I just ifnished reading the thread and advise you all gave Susan. I am hopeing for such help.

I am in need of a tractor. I am 90% sure I will be buying a Kubota. Most likely a BX2360.

I only have a little over an acre, so mowing is my primary need. However, I want the tractor to be able to build and work a sizeable garden, move snow, and really do anything on my prperty I can think of.

I want to know if I am over killing it with a BX2360. If so, what would you recomend and why?
If you agree that the BX2360 would be a good machine fro me, how much should it cost me with a front loader, roto tiller and 60inch deck?

Thank you all in advance.

I cannot help with the price but the BX is a pretty good choice for 1 acre. It really isnt that big, and its light. So messing up the yard wont be a huge deal. But it sure will be handy when it comes time to do the garden. And you can get a blade and take care of your own drive too. Spreading your own gravel, grading, clearing of snow, etc. It may seem big at first, but after awhile, it will seem small at times.

The Kubota BX2360 should be large enough and small enough to serve your needs. The Kubota .com site can give you a mfg suggested price for the build it yourself details. The BX sits a little low for gardening, but I'm learning to use my BX2660 for plowing etc. So far I haven't considered a tiller for this tractor. I still use my walk behind 8 HP due to the expense and layout of my gardens. Moving snow, gravel, lifting large rock, grading, lifting with pallet forks and mowing has been fun and efficient with my BX. Good luck chosing. PS I use mine on 3 acres and do work for my neighbors.

I have not yet looked at the Deere in person. I dont really like what I see though. The quick connect deck, to me, is just more mechanical parts that may eventually fail.
Also, the Deeres are a bit more expensive.
I am going to go look at them though.

Why is it to low for gardening?

The BX ground clearance just isn't quite high enough for a lot of routine and large garden use in large amounts. By the same token, the low center of gravity makes it more stable for mowing on slopes than tractors that sit higher. The"B" series of Kubota have similar uses but sit up higher for plowing and cultivation of row crops. Yet they are not quite as stable on slopes so I understand. Check some threads in these regards to get other opinions. Every tractor has it's advantages and compromises. One has to put all of it together based his own primary uses and goals. So far, my BX2660 has met all my needs. My three acres is not wild and full of brush although it has some steep slopes along the road and a couple other places. Hope this helps. Mike

In a lot of cases, tasks to perform are more important than acreage, so look to your tasks, not the one acre v two or three. Now if you were just mowing then the task of mowing a set acreage would dictate the "proper" size. A BX2360 is a good size when you factor in snow, driveway maintenance.

We are on our second BX and really like them. Height may or may not be a consideration for gardening depending on how you garden. I doubt in a non commercial application it will be problematic.

This may or may not be of help:http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/.../185147-bx1860-vx-b2320-contrast-compare.html

Agree that the BX2360 should do all you mentioned and as others have said the main difference between the BX and B is ground clearance which has it's benefits and downside to. The thread TripleR included is a great comparison. For pricing you need to contact Used Kubota Tractors.
They sort of set the low pricing standard and deliver all over the US.
