Concrete or gravel under barn wings

First of all, thanks to all of you for your input. It is most appreciated. I'm going to go with all concrete for another reason - my vet says that is may help keep the critters, including my "Oscar" junior (Elvis) nails/hooves better. I am going to put down horse stall type rubber mats in the main kennel area, which I have used in the present dog kennels and am really happy with.
I think I I will put pallets down on the equipment side to keep my tractor stuff off the ground. My son is a trucker and I have more pallets than I could ever use available for use in the barn.

I'll post up pictures as we put up the structure, and have added a picture of Elvis with my Granddaughters just because he is a cute little guy. He weighs 16 pounds and should not get more than 40 pounds. He is a " Rescue" minature pig.

Do yourself and the doggies a favor and go the extra mile and do the floor heat thing. I does cost a little more but you and the pups will thank you many times over and it is so much better on their bodies especially as they age.

No dog needs a heated floor, but especially not a Florida dog. Maybe a fan.

When I built mine I put gravel down on dirt, HUGE mistake. As the building receives little sunlight it's always damp. Things rust that shouldn't rust. I should have put down a layer of heavy plastic first. The nice white gravel is now a dirty brown.

Yep, Gotta agree with Eddie too. I'm going to concrete my garage/storage barn this summer. Gravel is hard to keep smooth and level. Would have been easier for me before the barn went up.

Well, we got the prep work done and poles up. Hope to be seeing the concrete truck Friday or Monday if we can get a few more things finished today.

Thanks Dennis, I'm hoping my tractor, dogs, and 65 El Camino will appreciate it also! ;)

Finished the first pour. Tomorrow add the roof rafters, and the concrete wings on Thursday/Friday. So far the weather has been great for the project, but we really need some rain. About 200+ acres burned within a mile of my place. Pour one shows the overall pour and the second photo is where we put a wash=out for where the kennels will go.

Congrats on the pour. Nothing like having a smooth, flat surface to work on!!!!!!

Thanks Eddie, this is really fun seeing the daily progress and anticipating having a nice area to work and store stuff. :)
