4WD on a lawn?

Two other major factors to consider - How tight you try to turn and ground speed in the turn. Slow down and make a little wider turn for less tear out.

I strongly disagree about the 4 wheel drive not playing much of a part. When turning sharply with any tires the front to rear differential difference causes the tire with least resistance to spin, in turn it chews up the grass.

If 4 wheel drive is not engaged the tires do not spin, therefore not near the damage.

I'm sure you are correct about the rib tires and I am not disagreeing with that.

I'm probably wrong but won't be the first time. :D

I should have said that I haven't noticed a difference. But, my soil is pretty hard to disturb, so I likely see less than other people with different soils.

So, are you able to turn 4WD on/off as needed on Yanmars?

I never take mine out of 4wd while mowing. I have areas that it will just slide down if not for the front wheel engine braking. I have ag tires, and unless the ground is very wet, does not to make much difference.
