Tractor
Yanmar YM240 Yanmar YM186D
We no longer have a Yanmar importer any closer to us than than Texas or Seattle so far as I know. (2+ days drive each way).

Prices are getting ridiculous here. Worst example I've seen: YM240 offered for $9,000. Since that ad will expire I'll repeat it here:

yuba-sutter craigslist > for sale / wanted > farm & garden

Tractor, Attachments
Date: 2012-03-27, 11:43AM PDT

All prices negociable, separately, or as a package. Yanmar Tractor (YM240, with 716 hours, 24 HP, PTO, 3 pt.,cat. 1, hydraulics): $9,000. Loader (Johnson Work Horse): $1,500. Disk (INDUSCO, scallops in front): $1,300. Tool bar/shoes (Towner): $850. Package: $11,600.
With loader and disc, that's triple what I paid for the same thing in 2003.

When someone sees a reasonable priced Yanmar near here, please add to this thread.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I think it may be time for me to start listing a machine or two at only moderately exorbitant prices, and see what happens! Maybe I can finance myself into a skid steer and mini excavator... :D

Another tremendous bargain. Deere 1050, only $5000!

"Needs entire transmission." ... "I have over 14k invested."

HAte to say it but he might have $3000 there if someone JUST happened to NEED the Bell housing engine and front axle, say by the end of the week!!

The part about 14K being invested is irrelevant if you bought it NEW 20 years ago! With that logic im going to list my 1990 ranger and say originally $15k invested (wait i did not buy it new, ohwell that dont matter they will never know :D) only want $3500. It only have minor body damage and 289,000 miles!!

With the price of new tractors getting higher & higher. I guess the older ones are gaining in value.Which, is good for all of us.. With all the new emission standards. who wants a new tractor with sensors every where like a new vehicle

I just found a YM2202D sitting at the end of a guys drive on a back country road while riding my motorcycle. Had a friend at work looking for a Yanmar, he stopped and bought it for $3,000. Tractor is in excellent condition, 700 hours, tires excellent w/ no weather cracking, included newer 5 foot scraper blade, extra fuel filters and hydraulic filter. Actually I was a little ticked that I didn't stop and ask the price. This tractor is a little smaller than mine but the 4wd sure would be handy at times. I picked it up for him and have it in my barn now, I think he got a heck of a deal! The tractor is very very clean, the paint looks original and is very shiny. The guy even had an owners manual and repair manual from Hoye.

Thats what I did.

I know, you kind of inspired me. I just finished putting a backhoe on my tiny Kubota B6000. I tested it out this afternoon. I want an excavator now, but it sure beats the daylights out of a shovel!

There have been several excavators around for what seem like reasonable prices, though far outside my "spur of the moment" budget. I just can't justify one. I need to buy a different property so that I can justify buying an excavator. :D A skid steer is about the same way for me. I can't think of a reason I would need one, so am not sure why I would buy it. I must be getting old...

Cragslist has a bunch up here in the PNW. Most with the coldwater loaders. Somebody is flooding the market. Look at the Seattle craigs list.

And sometimes there are still pretty good bargains. This morning, a clean little 1401D with box scraper (no loader) was listed for $1500. The listing is now gone, hours later. I'm sure he was bombarded with calls to pull the listing so quickly. Somebody bought a nice little tractor for a good price.

To be honest I probably didn't need a skid steer either for our 4 acres but I thought about it and some day when I get my own place I will be thanking myself I bought it. The skid steer does make working on the property a lot more fun and it is way more productive than the Yanmar in terms of moving logs and burn piles.

Wow, that is a good deal. The place I got my skid steer from has a John Deere 4310 for sale with FEL for $8900 that "needs some love". Not a bad deal on a 30 hp Deere.

Definitely true. The speed they do back and forth, tight loader work is astonishing, especially when comparing a standard shift tractor. Comparing machines of the same dimensions makes the difference even larger. Any of the dedicated machines are like that: excavators embarrass a backhoe of the same size, and nothing digs a water line faster than a pure trencher. A tractor is just so versatile, and is able to do anything adequately. Specialist machines do their "thing" better than all other options.

Very true. The one thing I miss the most is having a 3 point hitch with a PTO. I kept the imatch off my Yanmar along with the telescopic lower links which will be put on my next tractor I buy in the future. My plan is to get a blank skid steer Plate and weld 3 tabs onto it and mount the imatch to is. I wont stop there, I also will use my 34 hp of auxiliary hydraulics to power a hydraulic gear box which would give me a PTO shaft. It will take some math to get it as close to 540 RPM as possible but it will allow me to run a 5' bush hog on the skid steer vs/ spending over $4k for a hydraulic bush hog. Plus i will be able to use a couple of the tractor implements I have left from when I had the Yanmar, a landscape rake and a middle buster. Both will be used in cleaning all of the debris from the woods and putting the debris in burn piles.

So i guess you will be using this thing for paid jobs, otherwise it really seems like a pointless trade? A farm tractor for your uses seemed way more valuable, granted there are things that both can do the others cant.:D

I will probably get a few jobs with it so it can "pay for itself". You can see in the pictures I have attached what kind of stuff I will be using the skid steer for. The property I am working with is not very level, between tree stumps, piles of dirt, and areas where the land has been pushed clear with a small dozer a few years ago. What I love about the skid steer is how it can maneuver in the woods between trees, how much lift capacity it has, and how high it will lift. For my current needs, it suits the bill just right. Lets not forget how much fun skid steers are to operate too. ;)

I saw this advertised last night, and thought of this thread. I have redacted the phone number, but otherwise this is exactly as it appeared:

"yanmar tractor - $1500 (rancho cucamonga)

its a yanmar 22hp diesel cat 0. it stopped running i think its a fuel problem if you are interested text me at XXX-XXX-XXXX or call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX"

It says YM177 on the insignia. The tractor has sold, I found out this afternoon. Shall we start a pool as to when the new owner appears, looking for for a head gasket or injector pump? I recognize the possibility it is merely out of fuel, and needs a bleeding, or new filter, but I would not want to be the guy making that wager on such a rare unit as this. It's a nice looking tractor though. The paint is faded, but doesn't show any sign of rust, and the tires seem in reasonable condition.

These are not Yanmars, but I found them interesting. The Honda seems like the ultimate yard tractor: Front and rear lifts with 551 lb capacity, front, rear, and mid PTOs, 4 wheel drive and steering, differential lock, etc. This one seems to be complete and have a multitude of attachments. I have no use for it, but it's a good price for that assortment.

The Super C is unique. I've not seen anything like that of such an old vintage. I assume it is an old vineyard tractor.

Honda RT5000 Tractor, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steer, lift hydraulics front and rear, (3) PTO attachment points ( front, rear, and belly). Dozer blade front, Gannon 3in1 grader rear, Weed mower attachment 36", rototiller attachment, Disc attachment, Dumping trailer, 4 extra tires and rims, roll/ sunshade bar. runs excellent. cost over $10,000 new $2500 NO LOW BALLERS. Delivery available XXX-XXX-XXXX
