Newbie, with Massey 1250 needs help.

New to the forum, looks like I'll be spending quite a bit of time here. Purchased a Massey 1250 and ignition switch went out. Was jumping it at the starter for a while but the other day, I went out to fire it up and no go. Won't turn over. Can activate the glow plugs at ignition switch, hear the clicking, but when I use my jumper wire across to the starter nuttin. I've made sure clutch is in and levers are in neutral but still dead. I'm wondering if the kill switch under the seat can be deactivated. Where is it, first of all? At least then I could be tracing the problem with only me, instead of me and a helper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let me make this clear "This advise is for testing purposes only, do NOT OPERATE tractor with the safety switch disconnected"
Ok that being said you can unplug the seat switch and run a jumper wire and then see if it will crank. If not it might be the neutral safety switch or the pto switch in which you can do the same thing. Just be careful and remember to replace all the wires to the safety switches that you take off.

Thanks JL, now all I have to do is find the switches. Don't suppose anyone can describe or show pictures of how to find the seat switch. Probably need to look for the only wire coming to the bottom of the seat. I'll look for it when I get home. Thanks.

Just lift your seat up and you will see them.:thumbsup:

if your jumping it at the starter it would not matter what switch was not working it would roll over they would just stop it from starting at the switch not the starter if it wont roll over at the starter it's the starter ???
