I can promise you will not go wrong listening to or buying from Rick.
Bottom line is that 1) he gives excellent honest advice, 2) he is an excellent dealer, 3) an excellent businessman 4) a really nice and straightforward guy to work with. I'll also mention, as high praise, that he has a beautiful smart wife and that she chose him despite of his looks means she saw lots of good qualities too.

All the tractors you are looking at are fine for your purposes. A little too big is probably better than a little too small. Having dealt with Rick in the past if I were in your shoes I would literally ask him for his advice, his best price and then the delivery date. Not many dealers for any product that I would do that with but I would with Rick.

As mentioned, he and I have spoken and he did take some time out of his busy day to talk to me, and gave me some new ideas to consider. Several of the above options were because of that conversation in fact.

But just so I can sleep at night knowing I've done my part, researched, and made an informed decision, I tend to over-research everything.. It's just what I do.

I certainly do keep in mind the value of buying more local, but if it's several thousand dollars, I will drive. I'm not asking for anyone to not make a profit on the sale, I just want a fair deal.

Rick gave me a better deal than any I've heard of since. I'd be surprised if anyone beats him on price.

Massey GC2400 - Right now Massey is giving away a free mower with purchase. retail is around $14,300 if I don't count the mower. Hopefully I could still get some $ off list even with the mower offer. I like the lower RPM of the engine.
JD 1023E - I like the location of the joystick and the auto connect mower, but can certainly live without it.. retail is $16,500, but I've seen one for $13,700 (new)
Kubota BX2360 - $16,100 retail, and well, everyone knows Kubotas. The resale value is insane (high) around here, but I'm not driving resale value, I'm driving my tractor!
Simplicity Legacy XL - drives very nice, but kinda pricy unless I do a gas engine - do I really NEED a diesel? a 27hp liquid cooled gas engine seems pretty stout. Wallace has a demo one for what seems a good price. Like the electric cut height adjustment.
Mahindra Max22 - Seems a little pricy for what I'm doing, ("more than I need" as they say?)

IMO, the Simplicity is not a SCUT, rather a large "garden tractor". With that said, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the choices...

2*I end up borrowing my neighbor's BX25 or
Simplicity Legacy XL (27hp diesel with bucket)
3*Backhoe really isn't needed right now, I can rent one) 4*54" mmm preferred.
5*I'm not stuck on buying new, but prefer it.
6*Simplicity Legacy XL - drives very nice, but kinda pricy unless I do a gas engine -
7* do I really NEED a diesel?
8*a 27hp liquid cooled gas engine seems pretty stout. 9*Wallace has a demo one for what seems a good price. 10*Like the electric cut height adjustment.
11*Mahindra Max22 - Seems a little pricy for what I'm doing,
12*I just looked at the Mahindra 2216, which would seem to fit the bill.
13
14*If I was to go to a scut i would get me a Simplicity.
15*I have a Cornet and a Conquest.
16*If you go with the Simplicity go diesel.:)
So far you are compairing Graden tractors Sub Compacts and Compact tractors with each other resulting in inaccurate results .
1
2*One of these is a garden tractor and the other one is a Sub Cut .
Can you tell which one is which ?
3*That's what they all say but there are some flaws with that line of thought. .
4*Go with the 60 '' far better than a 54''.
5*Usually used cost more than new due to the extra finance cost.
6*You don't want a Garden tractor .
7*Yes because all Sub Compacts have diesels. .
8*But it is out league with a SCUT.
9*Again buy new =you're ahead.
10*Never heard of this on a S-Cut.
11*This is a Compact not a SCUT.
12*This is a compact And should be compared to all the other compact brands out there not a BX .
13
14*No you wouldn't because they build lawn tractors and Garden tractors .
15* but they aren't scuts.
16* But he will still have a garden tractor .

I agree.

I went with the Massey for a few reasons:

1). Brake is on the opposite side of the hydro (makes a difference sometimes, as hydros will still roll)

2). The Massey just looked stronger built.

3). The Massey fit my wife better.

I paid 13,750 for the Massey with loader, and 60" mmm, 2 years ago. Some in here got theirs for less than that.

The Mahindra Max22 is not 'more than you need'. According to the specs, it's roughly the same as the others, but has tires that are 2 inches taller, and the machine is wider. The major drawback on it that I can see is that the bucket will be 2.9 inches narrower than the tire width, and I don't like the brake on the same side as the hydro pedals.
