Ssshhh!
We can't have you going around saying how great your Dodge truck is, this place is packed full of Ford diesel owners. What's next, you sold your Kubotas for a TYM...? ;-)

I wouldn't buy a pre-07 Burb/Tahoe either.

I tell it how I see it and am pretty loyal until I get skrewed. I'll try Ford again, but in a gasser only.

I sold my 03 Tahoe, replaced the trany, had issues with encoder motor, cel was on for cam sensor, piss pour fuel mileage. Bought a 07 expedition el with 100k for cheap, it needed nothing for the government safety inspection. So far great truck. Getting 17_18 mpg highway.

I'd change that to pre-2008 across the entire 1/2 ton frames if you are interested in Auto-Trac (electrically controlled) 4 wheel drive. Beginning 2008 production, GM changed the transfer case. Models 1999 through 2007 used the New Venture NP246 which at around 100K miles, may develop an oil leak. The leak is due to the internal oil pump becoming loose and creating pin holes in the case, poor design.

In contrast, I have a 2003 Tahoe with better than 185K miles which have been trouble free. I've done nothing more than scheduled maintenance. I am averaging 18.3 MPG around town (most traffic lights are synchronize minimizing stop/starts) and 22 on the freeway with cruise control.

Luck of the draw I guess.

I checked the dash read out for the expedition when I test drove a used one at another dealer, it showed 9 mpg. I guess I'm paying a premium for my wifes and kids safety. Thats cheap insurance I think.

A local fire chief was bring his grand daughter to daycare in his ford escape and clipped the side rear of a tractor trailer, torn the side of the escape right off. The little girl died a week later in hospital. Sad. I could not handle that. I'll guzzle gas at $10 per gallon.

To get an accurate reading on mpg you have to reset it when you fill up. Also it averages it out for the entire time since you last reset it. Our 2007 Eddie baurer EL gets up to 22 mpg on long trips

I don't know...I bought an '01 Tahoe for my wife 5 years ago...She ran it to 120K with routine maintenance...The AC compressor did go, that was it...No "hard' mechanical problems at all...Miss that thing actually.

My neighbor wanted it in the worst way, so we sold it it him 2 years ago and he's loving it. The only reason it's gone is that the wife wanted an H3 in the worst way...Don't ask me why, but that has been trouble free as well and she's happy..All that matters I guess.

I just don't like the older style, nothing against it's reliability. We had tons of 98-2003 Tahoe and Suburbans all over 200k driven more off-road than on road while Land Surveying. Good trucks!

I also like the looks of the new ones better...I tried to talk her into a new Yukon...She wouldn't go for it..She wanted something smaller...Even though I paid the freight, I was overruled...I'm guessing you know how that works.:D

Now we have another Great Dane...He'll look silly in the H3, if he fits, once he's full grown.
