went to grab an oil filter for my wifes yukon the other day.

bosch fitler was um? 11$... fram tg 8$, regular fram 5$ stp 4$

now here's the kicker.. OEM AC/DELCO filter 4$ ( actually 3 and some change.. just like the stp ).

go figure!!!

We run old DM Macks at work and dad was content with buying at NAPA and wouldnt listen to me about Mack being cheaper. Stopped by the dealer and got a primary and secondary for 6.50 each Napa was 22.50 each.

NAPA filters are just re-badged WIX. Good filters. :thumbsup: I like them. I use them. They used to be half the price of OEM. No more. For example, on my KW, the NAPA filter prices are about the same as the OEM Caterpillar filters. Luber Finer and Fleetguard are about half price.

Oil filters for my 7.3 PowerStroke diesel engines are about $10 at wallyworld or autozone. The NAPA filter is almost twice that.

my local wally world don't carry my powerstroke filters.. napa is my closest source. I don't use oem ford filters on my 6.0 as I got a few that had leaky orings.. switching to a napa filter fixed it.

go figure.

still shocked the oem ac delco fitler is the cheapest of even the cheapy brands like stp and fram regualr series.

Advertising!! I just heard a fram radio commercial as i was pulling into work this am. They sell a ton of filters from brand recognition as well as its really common and the commercials and those who dont know will grab it as they see it on tv must be good mentality. Others who know there are other choices get what they want at basically any price, well to a point. Fram has to pay for thier TV ads and they can charge it as they have a loyal following.

AC is cheap as there probly made in tiawan, india, russia, bangledesh or where ever they get thier lot from. They are easy to make and have made them for years so its not like there is cutting edge technology or anything.

I was going to get plug wires for my saturn and the next best deal above cheapo store wires(learned my lesson a while back with chepies here) was AC's so i was gonna order them online and a manifold gasket and use an online code to discount it then pick up in store at ADvance. They did not stock either item so to get it i would either have to buy $75 to get free shipping or go in store and pay full price. I just bought them off amazon and did not leave my house. I guess they just sell the cheap wires as a price point that cheap folks will buy??Im cheap but i have not had good success with cheap wires, so i pay just a few dollars more and had good success. I really like the autolite Pro wires and advance has a deal now buy them and get a set of free platnum plugs.

I find NAPA's prices on most things pretty outrageous anymore. (Filters, Wiper Blades, you name it).

Been talking about this a lot this week . Waterpump for 115hp MF tractor is same price off MF or aftermarket , Alternator for same tractor was $251 off MF and $320 aftermarket .

Oil filter for my truck is $20. Add 4 gallons of oil and your close to $100 or over it.

Found the local dealers had the best pricing for maintenance parts, besides oil. So I've stocked up on OEM oil filters at (Delco and Honda). Honda even throws the crush washers in for the oil plug!

They do seem to feel that the oil is gold though...
