Found the local dealers had the best pricing for maintenance parts, besides oil. So I've stocked up on OEM oil filters at (Delco and Honda). Honda even throws the crush washers in for the oil plug!

They do seem to feel that the oil is gold though...

most do! at my local NH dealer I can get oem filters for near same price as aftermarket.. and sometimes better than aftermarket ( air filter especially ).. yet their oil is 2.5x the price of aftermarket.

I can also buy motorcraft PSD oil at walmart for about 2/3 the price the ford truck dealer sells it.. go figure..

wow! way more than the one for my 6.0psd. I use napa filters on it as the oem ford ones were leaking.. had it to the dealer a couple times due to that. they were perplexed that I could put a napa on there and the leak stopped. fix was switching to napa... results don't lie..

Had the wife stop at the NH dealer this week to get some mineral oil brake fluid, just for topping off when needed. $21 a quart.
It wasn't Ambrea, but CNH brand. Case New Holland, same as tractor.
Is there anyplace else that carries the same spec any cheaper?

I've also WalMarted my MotorCraft filters for my truck. As long as they stock them and charge < $5? I'll buy them there.

For everything else? Our semi-local Farm store sells Baldwin/Hastings for $5 for the filters I use on the Kubota, the lawn tractor and my wife's car. That's a quality filter for a price I can live with.

Oil filters for my 7.3 PowerStroke diesel engines are about $10 at wallyworld or autozone. The NAPA filter is almost twice that.

I bought 3 Fleetguards online for my 7.3 just to keep them on hand. I've got a NAPA close by, but they're at $23+ for them.
Looking around at a couple of my online sources I found the following:
Fleetguard LF3974 $12.91
Donaldson P550371 $10.10
Baldwin B7039 $12.43

Filterbarn.com shows a bunch of cross referenced numbers from other manufacturers ranging from $8.42 to $31.88. I punched in the NAPA #1734 as a base reference.

I hear you about the prices.... NAPA stores have a filter sale twice a year
Spring and Fall. Most filters run betweend 30 to 50% less when they have their sale. I stock up only go about once every 3 years

I've seen cheap oil filters destroy engines in my dealer service days...I'll stick with K&N, real OEM or Mobile1 filters...Expensive, but I don't give them a second thought once installed. Expensive is certainly realtive in terms of filters..$10 premium doesn't seem like much to me.

I use K&N filters for everything, second choice is amsoil. filters are cheap compared to repair bills. K&N usually around $13 to $16 bucks

went to grab an oil filter for my wifes yukon the other day.

bosch fitler was um? 11$... fram tg 8$, regular fram 5$ stp 4$

now here's the kicker.. OEM AC/DELCO filter 4$ ( actually 3 and some change.. just like the stp ).

go figure!!!

That filter probably crosses over to a very popular engine. So there are many more in production, keeping the cost low. The quality is most likely adequate, depending on how often you change your oil.
