Does your state issue new registration plates or just a tab?

We buy a new metal tag about every 5 years.The tab comes in between. About $85.00 a year with county additions? Display tag on rear of car,and PU,then on front of larger trucks?

Curiously, how many states still issue plates that in some way identify the county you live in? Here in N.H. they once did, but that was done away with in the late 70s. Not sure why, I'd guess it was becoming unwieldy and served no real purpose.

New Hampshire: Keep the plates forever, put on new stickers each year.

We just pay for a disc in the window stating how long before you next have to pay tax, the plates are issued from new and stay with the vehicle unless you buy a different plate that has to be older than the vehicle so as not to make it look newer.

I just paid 118 pounds for the privilage of driving on the roads for the next six months thats about $180 American

We get stickers every year and a replacement set of plates every 5 years in Idaho. And the plates are getting real cheap. no more stamped numbers/letters. there just flat silk screened plates now days.

Ours are very thin metal, pressed out with the numbers, and the county is a label sticker that goes along the bottom..We pay an extra dollar for it to be reflectorized, no choice. Vanity tag is extra $40.00..

Usually a sticker but last November when I went to pay I was given a choice. A sticker or a new plate almost identical to the one I currently had. The state had added the words "In God We Trust" so I took the new plate.

I like that Idaho has ten year trailer plates.

unless its a commercial registered trailer (mine is reg to my company). then its 1 year plates only
