Yeah thats why Im considering a deckover. Know your trailer weight? Thanks
Duffster, This thread is about danceswithdirt's truck, trailer and equipment. His concerns about getting the best trailer setup for his needs and being legal when towing, if he would get a CDL to tow over 26.000 lbs he would still not be legal with a tow vehicle only capable of around 23500 GCWR. So in this situation why does it have nothing to do with what a truck can tow? What am I missing? He is getting alot of information from people, so he can make a decision on what trailer he can buy without having regrets afterwords.Because it has nothing to do with what a truck can tow.

In IL last time I renewed mine it was under $100, but yes every 2 years I have to renew my medical card.
Back on topic if it was me a gooseneck with 8-10k single wheel trailer with 17.5 tires dual power jacks, and hydraulic dove tail about 33 long but that is my dream trailer.
Get pleant of trailer spend a little more now and not worry about overloading trailer.
In IL I have never had DOT look at anything but the plates to determine if I was overwieght.
