Thanks guys.

As for setting the level/drop for the french drain, I used a 4ft level and measured at 3 places along each 10 feet section of pipe and made sure the bubble was touching the line on the up side. I added gravel as needed below each pipe to achieve the desired result. In all I got about 150 feet of pipe with a drop of about 2 feet from start to finish, so a little more than the 1% rule of thumb drop.

The biggest pain about installing the backhoe are the 5 large bolts that have to be torqued to 450 ft lbs to properly setup the 3pt linkage for each tractor the hoe is attached to. I've been through the process 2 times now and will need to do it a third time for the 5085M. Once customized for a particular tractor, the hookup should not be that bad going forward. I plan to make a stand for it so that I should be able to back up to it and hook up in 10 minutes or so, at least that is my hope.

Also, dealing with those heavy cat 2 implements in general (like the blade and 9ft bush hog), I'm considering the cat 2 I-match system once I validate that most of my implements will work with it. I think that will be a big time save and make me switch to the proper implement when needed instead of trying to make do with whatever it currently hooked up.

Great job on that drain it looks super!!
That backhoe does look like a pain, but eventually you will have it hooked up in 5 minutes. As for the implements I've seen worse , category 4 hitch as on one 4wd 9510R. But I think you would do great with a quick hitch. May have to modify a few but after that your golden! Bigger implements are a lot harder to hook up.

With all the work you are getting done with older used tractors, does it make you question the new M?
Not at all! :D These loaners have had a lot of hard hours on then, and while they get the job done for sure, they have both been really rough around the edges, like no smooth gear shifting, leaking oil, etc. And given the asking price ($30k for the 6405 and $28k for the New Holland), I personally would much rather pay the extra for a new model where I would have full control of the service/maintenance history. The New Holland is less rough than the 6405 was, and the working A/C was great this past weekend with temps in the 80s.

I think that having had these loaners over the last few month will make me appreciate the M even more when it arrives than being tractor less would have.

I was able to get it off in 5 minutes tonight. I was very pleased with that time. Technique as follows:

1. Use stabilizers to raise up just enough to slip wood blocks under main frame.

2. Shut off tractor and release pressure from stabilizers so that weight of hoe rest on blocks.

3. Lift boom with engine hoist to the point that the frame no longer carries it's weight.

4. Place floor jack under boom pin and raise unit 3pt top link pin is loose and pull out. (this step is always the hardest one)

5. Lower floor jack completely and remove the 2 lower 3pt hitch pins.

6. Pull off PTO pump and drive away.

In theory, installation would be the reverse of the above, and I think I can do it in 10 minutes now since the engine hoist and floor jack are sitting there under the hoe.

Wow, category 4 and a 9510R. That's some serious iron! If the telescoping arms had been working on my loaners, things would not have been too bad. My 4700 didn't have those to start with, but with Cat 1 implements, I could usually yank on them real hard to make things like up, with the Cat 2 stuff, not so much!

That's the reason I went with the Cat II JD quickhitch - and the fender remote on the EH 3pt. The bigger iron and doing most of the hooking/unhooking myself; breaking 2x4's and sleeping on a heating pad at night..

I figured the hitch was a worthwhile investment!

The cabbed 2012's are starting to shop up at dealers.

Here's a 5100M with the same 420/85R34 / 13.6R24 Michelins that I'm getting. I really like how they redid the headlights. Can't wait!

Looks like they used the new R series headlights. Those new lights are really good. Pretty bright!! Hopefully yours comes in early!

Looks good. I still like my 6430 Premium better... I think.. :confused2:. My friends 6430 Premium w/ 673 SL and 7230 Standard got delivered yesterday. I had to go to his place and play with his toys for a few minutes. Walked him over how to use the IVT. He got a 91" bucket on his 6430, and he got a C250 but his looks way better. It has 2 roller adjusters so it can be an angle. I kind of didn't check his drop rate. And I dropped it on the concrete.. And he was right infront of me :( :ashamed: I had a little bit fun driving the 7230, Playing around his yard boosting the turbo and driving it going 25MPH on the road. :D Well, I drove both on the road. The 6430 Premium wasn't very strong going up the hill. Imagine the skid steer smack down, but the moguls dont drop So it would be a mogul, 100 feet, another mogul, then another 100', mogul, 100' , and another mogul. It wasnt the best ride, not very good weight distribution, rear tires too narrow I'd say. Prefer 20.8s instead of 18.4 or at least the mighty 600 metrics.

The grill and the hood do have that "swept back" look! :D I gotta say, though; I like the way the tractor looks.

I really like the corner post exhaust! Sure wished it was available on the '11's. The real complaint I have with the side hood mount is when I put the loader back on the tractor. I've scratched it twice now when the loader frame has drug across it. Gotta look out that I don't bend the darn thing!
