Here in SC no restrictions either. Shoot day or night with any firearm or weapon you want. You can trap them as well. Only restriction is on public land then its like your restrictions in NY. THere limited to the firearm for whats in season, but still can hunt them at night if u like.

the cyotes are and have been a major problem here the game commision was paying $50 for each one you killed but that stopped there is no season or limit on how many you can kill.

I think they use to give you a bounty here in this state years ago, i think you had to bring the ear or something weird in to prove you killed it. I think they said they stopped it so folks would not kill dogs and bring the ear in when they looked like a coyote.

Here they stopped the bounty because coyotes reproduce faster when you start killing them, the bounty had no effect on numbers. In NS they brought it back not to reduce numbers but to reduce the aggressive ones that don't fear human contact.

Last week a guy shot an 85 lb'er up north but its being sent for DNA testing as it appears to be part or whole wolf. If it is, first one since the 1800's.

I called in a coyote while turkey hunting opening weekend. He just came walking down the creek bed, where I was set up, looking for a turkey. He met the 10mm pistol that was on my hip.

We are in Texas, we have lots of coyots in the river bottoms, we can hear them sing at night. Some young boys came by one day and it was getting dark, couple years back. They were going back home from fishing and going through the woods. They said they got to looking around and all kinds of eyes were on them so they got out back to the road. They called their folks from our house to come and get them. I'm sure it scared them. My husband said he thinks some of then may be cydogs.

Over in the Woodlands they have wild hog problems. They get guys in at times to kill them. I've seen some skulls of big ones.

This afternoon my chickens were going crazy and not going in the roost. my dog and I headed to the chicken house, big coon out there. BJ took him on with the coon standing up. I didn't know my big old dog could be that vicious, hubby said he was surprised because a coon will kill a dog. BJ is about 70 pounds and he ran him off.

I have two sets of coyotes come in on me while turkey hunting this year. The first pair were within 15 yards of my setup between me and the gobbler.

They are a nuisance in MS also. They can be shot year round, day or night here. My 11 yr old called up a whole bunch of em last sat a.m. I think they must've smelled him before he got a clear shot.

One of the best uses for an IR night sight on a .223. Here in Oregon they have virtually wiped out the sheep industry.

We have a much bigger problem with bears than coyotes

Now you've really got me wondering where you are in our state? I have plenty of bear around here and have walked up on them in the wild without any problems. Infact the only recorded attack from a bear was years back in down state(human error caused). Not saying a bear won't cause some issue's especially when humans don't respect THEIR area, but every bear I've ever run accross will run like crazy when yelled at.
