They are a nuisance in MS also. They can be shot year round, day or night here. My 11 yr old called up a whole bunch of em last sat a.m. I think they smelled him before he got a clear shot.

We have had coyotes stalk us during turkey season.On another forum I visit a fellow was actually bit by a coyote while calling.Happened so fast they never got a shot at the coyote.

The only coyote i have killed came during turkey calling too..

Are coyotes a nuisance down in your area? Up here they're more a curiosity. We're not allowed to shoot them unless it's actually attacking our property (sheep, foul, etc.). and that's never been a problem for me. I very rarely even see one.

I've seen more red fox than coyote around my land. I get more use out of my Swarovski's than my Mossberg these days.

Where are you located, coyotes have been a real pain around us for a few yrs now. DEC told me to take out what ever I needed, they're considered a problem.

Once the coyotes move in though, the foxes will pretty much disappear. I'm surprised you can't take them with a small game license? We have chickens and goats so its open season on anything near the house or barn but most coyotes seem to go elsewhere.

As I said, there's an exception for when they attack your property (sheep, foul, etc.), but you do need a permit to hunt them, and it's a winter season.*

Partly, because they're not really a problem up here, but mostly because New York State does anything they can to get more money. If there a chance for a tax or fee to fill the gov't coffers, NYS has figured out a way to do it.

We have coyotes in southern NH. We also have a lot of gray foxes and red foxes. If you see one, you can guarantee there are at least 10 others hiding in the woods.
