Simply ignore 5030...... he thinks he is smarter than you, and therefore, should dictate what you drive. Apparently, we shouldn't be free to complain about something we feel is unjust. I'm surprised he didn't tell you Mitt Romney was governor of Maine while he was at it.

I thank you for your service to my country.

I care less if you whine and complain because it does NOTHING to alleviate the problem other than make you FEEL like you accomplish something when, in fact, you've become a part of the very problem we have.

Rummy was governor of your state and the designer of Obamacare. Tell me, how do you like your one state socialized medicine?

I don't give a hoot what you drive either. But if you want to drive a guzzler or sub-guzzler, quit whining about the cost of admission. Its built into the product.

It's our country FYI, not yours.

I'm proud to be an American, still the best place to live and one of the few places where whining is acceptable.

I don't see us ever going back to cheap energy, no matter who is in office. The politicians don't control the economy, it controls them.

In the long run after we're all dead, economics may win out over governmental efforts to manipulate the economy, but in the short run (the period in which we have to live), politicians' control and manipulation of the money supply has a great deal to do with the economy.

Let's say someone makes money freely available to make real estate loans regardless of traditional credit underwriting practices so people who really can't afford loans get them. When large numbers of these people can't pay them back, the lenders who made them also get in financial trouble themselves.

Now the same someone who effectively insures many of those lenders doesn't want them to fail because the same someone can't operate them, but doesn't want to pay off their depositors, either. So the same someone throws more money directly into those lenders to keep them going.

At the same time, that someone steadily devalues the money supply in the hope that these lenders sitting on foreclosed real estate will be able to unload them without a loss that the someone would otherwise have to eat if the lenders failed.

The businessmen that sell oil aren't fooled by any of this. They raise their prices to compensate because they aren't in business to give away money.

Who pays for it? The people that acted responsibly-that had savings, it gets eaten up by the devaluation of what they worked for and probably don't realize who did this to them or how they did it.

sounds like you're doing a bit of whining yourself there about Owe-bama care. whining about one state socialized medecine, whining about Romney, whine, whine, whine:p so you aren't exactly whining free either. it's very simple, if the automakers would produce a truck that get 30mpg or more we would buy them like they were going out of style. bring over a small diesel truck or offer a 1/2 ton truck. right now all we have ARE gas guzzlers to choose from. want a diesel? better stepup to a 3/4 ton or 1 ton. want 30mpg? better go buy a car and figure out a way to haul things and have it pull a trailer. the products we need just are not availible to us in this country at this time.

Actually 5030 is the only one making any sense. If you don't like the price of something, don't buy it. Get a smaller car, whatever it takes.

Actually, he is just bashing other forum members for the sport of it. I drive an F350 because it is impossible to fit a table saw, mitre saw, a couple ladders, circular saws, and boxes of other tools in a Chevy Aveo. And I DON'T buy any fuel I don't have to. If I need to go to town hall..... I walk. My wife and I no longer drive anywhere we don't have to. How many restaurants, movie theaters, stores, etc no longer get any of our dollars? Fuel has DOUBLED in the past three years....... you think that is Ok? Guess I should just take it lying down cuz 5030 says I should? He is still stuck on criticizing ME because he thinks Mitt Romney was the governor of New Hampshire, when I've already explained to him it was Massachusetts. Perhaps his problem is that he doesn't read well. Yeah, he is the only one making sense. :confused2::confused2:

When George came in the price of a barrel of oil was $23.00 that year the average was $28.00, when he left it was $98.00.
Under george it got to $4.27 average fuel price, it has not got to $4.00 since he left and actually went down today.
Look it up.

If you need a big truck for your job, thats a pretty good reason. If fuel prices go up, you pass that on to the people you work for, its that simple. If lumber costs more, shingles, what ever, you don't eat that price increase, you pass it on. It should be the same for fuel. I don't like high fuel prices either, but if it was hurting me that bad, I would change my vehicles and driving habits.

I have a Land Rover Discovery (1998) with a 2.5 turbo diesel engine

It has covered over 160 thousand miles and returns 30+ miles per gallon local and over 40 on a run

I will be pulling a small twin axle trailer with side boards for general moving things around and a car transporter trailer (the one in my signature) and I expect 25 plus mpg towing a car.

I can tow over three tons legally with the Discovery and it is also a very comforable car with cruise control etc.

I think the laws in some states may not allow the Land Rover due to emmissions but cant understand why when thousands of planes fly every day with no restrictions on exhaust pollution and the railways run diesels which also to my knowledge have little or no restrictions so why ban some cars which polute a lot less.

tractors will be next:D

So if I am a producer and I can get $100 a barrel from England, why would I sell it to the American market for 75? Unless of course nationalism comes before profits, which would generate a lawsuit by the stockholders. It is a global market and speculation, supply, and demand dictate what the price is for fuel. Oil is traded in US dollars, so that also impacts the going rate, as do taxes at the pump. But if we are truly a capitalist country, then why are we complaining because XXX oil company is making record profits? Are we calling for price fixing or nationalization of oil in this country? We complain about Obama-care and yet are complaining about a very capitalist market.

Maybe if we max out production, control how much OPEC members put out and wipe out China and India's demand somehow we can lower fuel costs substantially, otherwise, it is always going to be expensive from here on out. Or perhaps a global depression will kick in and demand will drop to nothing, but then no one will be working so we still won't be able to afford fuel prices.

Why do you think "some people" don't want the Canada pipe line. Check out who is making more than $1.00 on every GALLON pumped for doing NOTHING.

That is a $1.00 for EVERY GALLON PUMPED. That come out to about 391 million gallons or DOLLARS a day ........that are also taxes.

Then someone takes that 391 MILLION dollars a DAY and redistributes it, to everyone but you and me.

The politicians don't control the price of oil. There is more demand. We are making so much fuel here we are exporting it. My brother is off working in the ND fields. There are more rigs running in the US than ever, but the world market sucks up everything that can be produced.
