My Mistake

Hope the foot isn't broken but better to find out now . I agree it's been one of those days..
Been driving 41-42yrs ,personal and at work ,somewhere around 700,000 miles and till today had never hit a deer .
Around 6:15 am going to work , hit something with a hard thumb. I'm wondering what the heck ,my wife asks me what did I hit.. Had no idea..!!! Went down the road turned around came back down 4 lane to see what I did hit. Found deer lying in medium. Guessing deer came across the east bound lanes jump the center cables and jump into my lane. Hit front of 09 Vibe on frame member just left of hood and driver side fender. Thankfully no one hurt ,,,except deer,,, $4600 damage to Vibe.

Bad news but DEFINITELY go to the Dr.

I kicked a cement block when I was about 16 and my big toe apparently fractured. I did not go to the Dr. It didn't turn black and blue.

By the time I was 30 it started angling into the second toe, like a bad bunion.

When I brought it to a doctors attention the only solution was to break it again.
Which meant at least a month off being able to walk.

About 50 it was angling in so bad that I had to severely trim the nail.
I didn't want surgery because I traveled all the time.

Last year it started crossing under the second toe. It had gotten painful to even walk. Again the doctor said break it, plan on not using the foot for a couple of months.

Well I've broken several major bones in my body and I know recovery is not pleasant.

So for now I'm wearing a Vibram 5 finger shoe Vibram FiveFingers : Barefoot Sports Shoes : Toe Shoes & Minimalist Shoes, and waiting to drop a log on the toe and have it properly set.

Newburry's mistake sounds almost like mine. I kicked a stair runner one night trying to run up a set of steps. Never thought anything about it until about two months later when I could not walk or climb ladders at work with out being in massive pain. Needless to say it had to be re-broke.

Hopefully the day gets better for everyone.

Sounds to me like it might be a good idea to wear steel toed boots all the time. Would be great if you could find a comfortable pair at a reasonable price.

Very good point. I am grateful to a welding class I took last year as they forced me to buy steel toed boots to work in the metal shop. I wasn't interested in forking over $180 or so for top of the line boots but found there were acceptable and comfortable boots available for just under $100. Now my only problem is remembering to put them on when dealing with heavy objects/equipment!

What is you wife's cell number. We will all call her and have her drag you to the doctor. Lots of things to sit and wait on, feet and knees are the ones you have to go ASAP.

Now that is below the belt! Trying to get him in trouble like some old tattle tale. We guys are all entitled to avoid going to the doctor's office until it is too late. It's in either the Constitution or Bill of Rights I'm quite sure.

HA HA HA, it sounds like something I would tell my wife. I never go when I need to and when I do I am in twice the pain or sickness. Then she makes fun of me for not going right away. :(
