Kubota BX25
Just added some new accessories to my tractor and thought I would post. I will say that I haven't really had time to really test all of it out so for now it is a first impression. Did dig around a little but not really through al the paces yet. Will update when I do.

BXpanded Under Armor Skid Plate. Very nice, easy to install and as always with then a great product so far.

Toothbar.net Bolt on tooth bar. I think I may be one of the first in existence to get one of these. Not on the website yet. If you are not familiar, their current bar is a "chain on" version, I happened to call to ask questions and found out they were about to release a new version that is a clamp on version that requires no mods to the tractor, no chains, etc. like you find on some others. It goes on in no time and is rugged as all get out . Should be.... it is made for skid steers but works on tractors, compacts and subs as well. Very clean and well made. I was looking at the gearmore and didn't like that the teeth weren't replaceable. These are! Wasn't a fan of drilling the bucket either...

Also added some pics of my rear blade. Had some outside storage rust I wanted gone and took the opportunity to "Kubota-ize" it.

Sorry for the poor pics from my smartphone...I will try to get better pics up at some point

I cant tell you for sure but like most toolbars it has a universal slip over the cutting edge design. I know alot of the toothbars wont work with a bolt on cutting edge. I dont know if this one does.

They have a range of sizes. The advantage to this design is that they dont bolt into the side of the bucket they are very forgiving in size. Typically you have to have a bar somewhat custom fit to your bucket size. With this as long as if fits in between the sidewalls it "fits".

I had been looking for some time at bars and never really found one that had everthing I wanted. I wanted simple attachnment that didnt require mods to the tractor, rugged, replacable teeth, etc. They are reasonably priced too.

The only thing I wish it had was a flat bottom profile for smooth back dragging but to be honest on the market all except a couple have teeth that stick proud off the bottom of the bucket. And I am sure there are disadvantages to the flat bottom profile as well.

Best thing to do would be to get in touch with them. Ted is a really good guy to work with. See link below:

I take it the green parts sticking up are the calmps for the bucket? i know you havent used it much yet but give us some feedback when you do. I would be curious to see it those clamps get in the way?

Yes those are the clamping screws. They may get in the way a little. I guess it depends on what you are digging. I would think most materials will sift right around them. Maybe rocky material and stuff that might get hung up like roots or branches or something like that could be an issue.

I feel they may be excessively long, leaving alot of thread sticking up so I may trim them down a bit from the thread side so they are a bit lower profile.

I think the advantages of having the toothbar bolt thru the sides of the bucket out weigh the cumbersome clip on bolting being in the way .
It still requires the same amount of time and a wrench to undo either way.

But clay and rocks etc would bother me having clip on bolts....but that is just me.

Point well taken.

There are definate advantages and disadvantages to each system. I am going to be cutting the clamp screws down so it isnt in the way as much. Was also thinking of taking the hex head dwn too and putting a through hole so a wrench isnt needed at all just a bar to tighten and untighten. I will post pics if and when I do. Havent had enough time to fully assess the layout.

Aside from that personal preference I prefer it this way. I tend to avoid permanent modifications to things when I can.

Thanks to this thread I just ordered one of these. I had considered a Gearmore with similar design but it was over $100 more. I'll report back once I have some experience with it.

Let me know how you make out as well.

As I mentioned this thread so far is based on my first impressions which so far are good.

1) The manufacturer was easy to deal with. Ted is a really good guy to deal with and right on top of things.

and.....

2) What I recieved was what i expected and from my first impressions very well made and very rugged. I should qualify this with two things. I have never owned another toothbar to compare and I havent dont any real heavy digging with it yet to truly put it through its paces.

however......

Knowing it was designed and built with skid steers in mind and watching the videos, I dont have concerns over ruggedness especially on my little BX. It almost looks "overbuilt from a ruggedness standpoint" compared to some of the other toothbars I was looking at. Everything looks thicker and heavier. This isnt a bad thing just testimony to why I feel confident it will hold up. Plus it is completely rebuildable anyway. I havent seen any others that could easily be rebuilt.

I have not done any heavy digging with yet but will post when I put it through some paces. I have a back hoe as well so it will never be forced to dig holes in the way some operators do but it will see some scraping of the very rocky earth we have here and topsoil removal. Also alot of raw material pile digging, crushed stone, loam, gravel, mulch, woodchips. Also moving rocks. I also an interested in how it will work as mini brush forks as I have read they help out a bit in this capacity as well.

underdog now that you cut down the attachments bolts i think you have the best of both worlds. easy removal and no holes in the bucket. Im not really keen on drilling my bucket either. let us know what you think of its digging ability once you have it out in the dirt.

If you are talking about the tooth attachments bolts. I am pretty sure they are what they are. There really isnt any extra bolt sticking up from the nut. I wouldnt want to take any off of what is there for stength reasons and honestly all you might gain is an 1/8" or so.....

Dont really think they will be an issue

I was so excited when I got it that I threw it right on and really didnt look to closely at the underside of the bar but my thought is it is a bolt straight through. That is actually the nut you are seeing there on top of the teeth, in the pics. Maybe a carriage bolt with the dome side up but without a square hole the carriage head would spin and it would be tough to get it tight enough.

Last night I added another hole through each hold down bolt, at 90 degrees to the first one just to give more indexes to get the screw driver into. Because it sits between teeth this will make it easier to turn in

Had 10 yards of fill dumped today and 10 yards of loam coming tomorrow to sustain some yard repair and projects for awhile. Havent dug into it yeat......delivered at dusk. May be a little while before I really dig at it. I have some lawn patching to to then it will be used for some larger projects.

However, I did move some rocks I had that were of where I wanted it dumped. A few were sizable, one in particular that I know I cannt lift just roll. The bar didnt move and did great for that. My only hinderence was I didnt have the BH on or any other counterbalance so I had a little trouble with rear tire lift on the big one.........

Get it yet?

I haven't gotten it yet, and no tracking number either. Just sent them an email. I'm also a little concerned that I don't see the clamp-on toothbar on the website any more, just one that requires chain binders. I hope to report back shortly...

The clamp on is a new product and not even up on the website yet. I found out about it because I called up to ask a few questions about the chain on version. when I was trying to decide on what toothbar I was weighing the options of doing it with cable rather than chain. When I called they let me know about the new version, not up on the website yet because they were just on the verge of releasing it. They sent me some pictures and information on it and I liked what I saw so ordered online.

When I ordered I also sent an email to verify I wanted the clamp on version. They also knew already because I had been discussion it for a few days over email and a couple phone discussions I had as well.

In your case, If I were you, I would contact then to make sure, especially if you havent discussed it with them before hand.

Like I said, I get the feeling they havent "officially" released the product yet, so it is not on the website.

They sid they will still be offering the chain on version because they still have people that want that version.

/ Toothbar and other accessories #17
ok, they confirmed they're sending me the clamp-on version. Apparently it will ship today.

i bought a markham in 2007 that bolts through the sides of the bucket. i have only taken it off 2 times in the 5 years i've owned it. it was the best $300 i've spent on my tractor, still going strong..

got the toothbar - it appears to be really high quality. My heavy-equipment-mechanic neighbor says my tractor FEL will break before the toothbar does. Only problem is that it's about 1/8" too big to fit inside the bucket of my BX24. A little grinding should solve it. My fault for not measuring and confirming size in advance.

Yeah. They modded mine down to size for me but I dont think it is something they mean to do as common practice. I mentioned to them to reasses the size as it seems a bit tight for the BX23-25 series and it would be ashame for them to miss that market as they are a very popular tractor.

The beauty of their design is that it doesn't need to be a tight tolerence to the side walls so hopefully between you and I they take a cue and make it fit the BX series more consistantly. Mine ended up with about 1" clearence on either side and is just fine. I measured my bucked before ordering and like you was 1/8" undersized....which would have meant 1/16" to remove each side.

You might be able to move the longer tanged tooth to the second slot in so that you have less metal to grind. Not sure if this would affect the clamping action though but easy enough to move back as they are bolted on. Or maybe oval the hole a bit to slide the tooth in? Then remove from the bar end.

Did a little digging with it the other day and rolled a big rock. Seems to do well. I still have to make a better assement though. My issue was more with the tractor itself. I have the BH off right now because I was messing around getting some rear impliments and the 3PH setup so this was my first time digging like that(with no real balast in the back). As we know the BX 25 isnt the heaviest tractor around and it really needs the BH or some other sort of weight to add counter balast and wieght to the overall frame. It has a fairly high power to weight ratio. I had rolled this rock before no issue. I had a little trouble with back end lift. In loam I had some traction issues. This all has nothing to do with the toothbar aside from it adding more weight to the bucket area to compound the issue. But from a pure toothbar standpoint, solid as a rock. So I will get the BH back on and really see how it digs. Hopefully Saturday.
