Buying Advice Kubota bx25 vs mahindra max 25

Mahindra's website says the Max 22 has 8.5" of ground clearance. Is this not correct?

Note the smallest Kubota BX, the BX1860, has 8.5" of ground clearance.

Wrooster

The book says 5.7 inches of ground clearance. I didn't measure, but it sounds about right. The draw bar is the lowest point.

Is the Max25 5.7" as well?
From looking at the specs on the Mahindra site- looks like the Max22 and 25 would have the same clearance.
That's a weak spec, one of the few for the Max.

What do you expect for a SCUT? Or pseudo SCUT? These things are optimized for suburban duties, not field or forest work.

Maybe the ground clearance will convince Don these are SCUTs after all.

Maybe. Maybe not. :confused3:

But it sure wont convince me:D

Et tu LD1?

I am amused at the semantic battle regarding the "fairness" of calling the new Mahindra's SCUTs. Who gives a rats arse what they are marketed as? Try them out and if the shoe fits, wear it.

The only people who could be confused by the SCUT/small CUT distinction are true newbies and they don't know what either type is or which size would work best for their purposes anyways.

Much ado about nothing IMO.

Agree. There is no definitive code written in the national registry of weights, measures and standards for this stuff. GT CUT SCUT etc. Blah. All arbitrary.

The "wrong comparison" stuff for marketing edge is to be expected. If it works with some folks, what ya gonna do? There are people who decide which tractor is right by reading specs on a white page. Those are often the same people who end up sorely disappointed with the tractor after awhile.

That really is what I have been preaching all along in the numerous threads of this tune:thumbsup:

Oh man, while most of us agree with you, are we going to start this pissing match again? All I know is I love my tractor size because it fits me like a comfortable shoe, whatever size that is. ( Max 22)

I have had several guys come in to my dealership to see the Max for themselves based on this thread. So, if someone wants to continue the debate, it sure does not hurt Mahindra, but it does get old.

A tractor is not a spreadsheet, nor does the nomenclature of SCUT or CUT really matter. They fit people and people's needs differently. People should first of all decide to buy good quality, that is a given, and there are a number of brands that are top quality. Then consider the tasks at hand and how fast they want to accomplish them to help them get the right size. Even a small tractor will do a big job (as long as the job can be broken down into small pieces) given some patience. That sets the basic parameters. From there, find a tractor you like from a good dealer and toss the stack of brochures once you do.

For me, I like the Max 25 or Max 28XL because I want a small tractor that can handle a large mower or tiller. I have great loamy soil and no rocks, and when I till up the garden, I don't mind using a decent size tiller. Now if I did mostly loader and backhoe work, and kept my mower and tiller to a reasonable size, I'd pick the Max 22. Other than HP, you get the same tractor as the Max 25 for less money. If I had heavy loader work for a small tractor, I'd pick the Max 28XL, it lifts as much as some of the competitors 35 HP tractors. But I would first define my needs. I would not just try to buy a tractor that tops out in every column, you end up buying more tractor than needed.
