I'm tired of diesel 50 gallons at a time ...

We bought our first tank directly from one of the fuel suppliers. By buying it we were not limited to dealing only with the one dealer. Then bought a second tank from a friend. Both tanks are 300 gallons each and currently sit next to each other but will be moving one of the tanks to the new farm as soon as we get a secure area there. There is no deliver fee here either from any of the suppliers. There are 4 suppliers locally that I can deal with and the price of their off road can be as much as 30 cents a gallon depending on the day so it pays to call around before committing to buy (well at least it pays for us).

I thought about the fact that I was limited to the one supplier ... then I thought "heck they done beat everyone out of the gate" ... hoping it will be just fine.

Watch the crude market go up and down before you buy.

If it's going down, say tonight. Order fuel tomorrow. Don't order it for the same day.

Rack prices (how people who buy 'on the spot') Change every day at 6pm local time.

Blue I hope you have a good lock, good watch dog and or Shotgun, because a farmer friend of mine has had a lot of trouble..It is starting to be a lot of money stuck out there in the dark, and some people... well you know some people..are Um..scum.

. A couple of solutions. #1 a gas and diesel tank labeled gasoline and diesel. On fill up date place a gasoline sign on the diesel and a diesel sign on the gasoline tank. Remove signs and look for stalled vehicles within a mile of your place. #2 a well hidden trail camera that only you know about. #3 lock the main tanks but leave out a full 5 gallon gasoline can and a full five gallon diesel can. Each 5 gallon can contains 1 gallon of fuel and 4 gallons of water.

It sounds like your more limited in your options then I am so if you found a good supplier then don't worry about it. A few cents here or there won't really break the bank but if your able to start asking around and see who everyone else uses. I actually have had a supplier rep stop here to try and drum up business. Offered me a great price but I had just filled the tanks. So now that your tied in with a tank and supplier you will find a better deal soon :laughing:

I have a quick disconnect made by Parker connected to my pump. That way I can remove the hose and store it inside.

There was an ol' farmer north of me who done just that.... Switched up the gas/diesel tanks.....

The youngsters did not make it very far from the fuel tanks later one evening as the smiling farmer pulled up to them say'n, what seems to be the problem!!!:laughing:

One summer years ago, another good friend had gas mysteriously vanishing out of his 100 gal tank, Lots of kids with motorcycles in the area. So when he got the last few gallons of gas from the tank, the tank was filled with a small amount of water.

Over the next few days, there seemed to be a lack of motorbikes tearing around the area. So then he drained off what water was left, had the tank refilled, installed a lock and had no more problems

Thats a good trick ... worth keeping in mind.

Yes sir kinda limited and a few cents I guess will be made up by not taking all those trips to town.
