I'm sure that there are other Prepper and semi-Prepper types with similar reasons for buying a CUT the past couple of years.

Nah, you fruitcakes are a small minority. The sky has been falling for a small part of the human population every day since the beginning of recorded history.

I think the retiring boomer cohort accounts for 100x as many sales.

Now why do you have to bring up fruitcake when Christmas is so far away! I love that stuff :)

Especially when it is in cans!

The trouble I have is estimating how many of them it takes to build a retaining wall.

Evidently you've never had one of the finer fruitcakes in a can from Texas..One of the first ingredients is pecans... they are delicious, But as to the other kind, mentioned above??

One and the same for the most part.

If these boomers had more faith in the world they'd be moving to cookie cutter golf neighborhoods and those horrible pre-planned mountain communities where people go to die a slow, painful death......

The dealer who sold me the Kioti tractor said 80% of his sales the past 3 years were retirees between the ages of 60 - 80 years old. He said most of them got tired of their retirement money/investments doing nothing, so they decided to buy something useful. Another percentage just wanted to buy because they were no longer working and now had free time to attend to the farm life.

I guess it is a good time to be a tractor dealer when we have most of the country's baby boomers retiring at this very decade. I think this will continue for the next 5 or so years.

I have a neighbor that does remodeling. He tells me that biz is good, and that folks have told him that they might as well spend some money, it's not making anything sitting in the bank.

I agree. The same fruitcakes were into Y2K.
